@Lethal blade00 is that true? Like will UC Navy ships attack you around Jemison and the like?
Maybe an article could be made for “NASA” which is just a short one with a link to the full article with the full name. Like “NASA is an acronym for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Link).”
I haven’t come across any yet.
I just came across her in the Jemison Mercantile to the right of The Viewport just outside the security area of the New Atlantis spaceport.
I’m currently on a mission near Luna. Before I leave the area I might take a grand tour of earth. It’s kind of sad to look at from space. But should be interesting to see what can be found.
Similarly should I be able historical sites on Luna (Apollo landers and moon rovers) and Mars (mars rovers)?
It’s fairly bug free. I had one lock up. Many people have reported zero bugs after many dozens of hours of play.
Yah totally, I love it if I wasn’t clear about that.👍😄
Maybe the official screenshot with the Frontier on it? Maybe the ship wouldn’t be visible but the alien landscape would be.
Edit: oh I just noticed you added the one with the guy in a space suit. That’s cool too.👍🙂
It’s a great space RPG! People should be aware that there’s a learning curve and it gets way more fun as you climb it and learn more and more. I’ve got probably around 16 hours and I feel like I barely know anything yet. I am a slow and deliberate RPG player so others may be further along by the same point but there is a lot here. They weren’t joking about this being a huge game.
My main advice would be to give yourself time to get over the learning curve. Have fun!
I’ve got a Steam Deck but I haven’t tried it on it yet as I’ve been playing on my desktop rig.
So I’ve read/watched that’s it’s playable but if that’s your only way to play it you might consider streaming. Do you have good internet? If so you could get Game Pass Ultimate which includes streaming. As I understand it you can stream game pass games right on Steam OS too.
……
Edit:
Also…if you’ve had your Steam Deck for a while you may be aware that the state at release is just the beginning. Valve will be working on optimizations in Steam OS and Proton as well as providing precompiled shaders. And Bethesda will naturally increase optimization over time. So it will improve from just barely playable to a point where you might be able to use some medium settings and perhaps push 40 FPS.
There have been several games that were unplayable at launch that are now fully Verified (TLOU and Dead Space remake come to mind). Dead Space took a couple of days while TLOU took several months but the point is games get better on Deck from how they are at release.
Glad to help!
I did have a slight error originally that I corrected. I initially said you need to hold the button while dragging. This is not the case. You just hold it long enough for it to ‘pick up’ the item then you can release the button as you drag around. You then tap the button when you get into position.
I also discovered you can rotate the item with the triggers as your dragging.
I updated the original post with this info.
I think mostly those traits would go with most of those backgrounds. Maybe bounty Hunter fits the flavor of Freestar collective?
It depends on what play style you want. Look at the skills each one offers and decide which of them are things you might want to engage in sooner rather than later. Without knowing the skills explorer sounds like a good generic one.
Another thing with picking your background is it can help you come up with a background story for your character which is a lot of fun in a role playing game.
Place your reticle over the item then HOLD the activate button (by default the A BUTTON on Xbox controller) until the item is picked up. You can then release the button and drag it around to the place you want. You can ROTATE among one axis (using the LEFT AND RIGHT TRIGGERS by default) while it’s being dragged. Finally TAP the activate button to drop in place.
This wasn’t obvious so in thought I’d share.
So I’m wondering will we be able to captain our ships without actually flying it ourselves and giving orders to everyone including the pilot? Otherwise what is the NPC pilot skill for?
I generally will prefer to pilot my ship but the idea of just being the captain giving orders like in Star Trek sounds cool too. How do you guys think it will work?
So this could help out performance significantly but it won’t be on Starfield on launch. Probably Bethesda is being cautious and not wanting to put in a major new feature right before launch but I’d say it’s all but certain we will get FSR 3 (with AMD’s version of frame gen) sooner or later. It works with all relatively modern hardware: best on RDNA 2 & 3 and also works on RDNA 1, Intel Arc, all NVIDIA RTX and most NVIDIA GTX GPUs.
I’m glad to know someone is minding the store.😊 A few weeks back I was a little worried that we were abandoned.😛
@Timgretio hints (and a few outright leaks) from those playing indicate that the game is really good. Many reviewers hinting that they can’t stop playing, that they are having a lot of fun and one reviewer (who may not get another Bethesda game to review in the future) flat out indicated that he had seen zero bugs in 15 hours of playing.
The version number of the game is currently 1.6. It’s been suggested that Bethesda games typically release around version 1.1 so the implication is that Starfield is highly debugged and polished to a shine.😊
OMG two weeks from now and those with early access will be playing!
The media is already playing for their reviews which will be allowed to release 8 hours before the game goes live Thursday, August 31st, 2023 at 5p.m. Pacific time (review embargo lifted at 9a.m.).
Xbox players can preload now and will need 125GB SSD space free. PC players buying from Microsoft can also preload now while Steam customers can preload on the 30th (typically around 10a.m. Pacific time) and PC players need a bit more space at just under 140GB.
Who is as excited as I am?😃
