Abandoned Cryo Labs are points of interest which may appear on planets.

Layout[]

The labs consist of an exterior and interior, with the interior split into the "outside" interior and the "inside" underground facility.

Outside are three Va'ruun Zealots or Crimson Fleet Pirates, as well as two ammo cases and a master-locked contraband cache. A small building with a broken switch is the exit of the facility - within is a storage crate.

The interior area holds three more Zealots, as well as a first aid kit, two storage boxes, an Industrial Workbench, Grunt Issue 07, an ammo case, a space helmet, and a Digipick.

Underground Facility[]

The main path of the facility is blocked off with ice. Two dead scientists can be found here, along with a first aid kit, storage box, Zipper Bandages and an Antibiotic Cocktail. A ventilation shaft leads it to a research room.

Within the research room, there are four Zealots, as well as an Immobilizer, two storage boxes and the RE: Structural Report slate. A vent leads to a secondary research area.

Research Area[]

Within this area, which goes up to the cafeteria, are three Zealots. There are also five storage boxes, a wall which can be destroyed (behind which is a storage box), a digipick, some food, a first aid kit, a computer, a pharmaceutical kit, a Research Lab, a storage crate and a storage cooler. Its walkways are connected to the Cryogen Research Lab.

Within the Cryogen Research Lab, there are two Zealots, as well as a digipick, some clothing, and two expert-locked Security Doors, which can be opened using the Cryogen Research Lab Key. This key can be taken from the corpse of a dead scientist hanging out of a vent from the ceiling. Behind one of these doors is a storage box and a digipick. The other door leads to a small storage area, where there are two storage boxes, a storage crate, and a digipick.

If one instead follows the path, another smaller research area is entered, with two steel gas containers. A nearby ice wall can be broken, leading to a storage area with one Zealot, an ammo crate, four ammo cases, a digipick, a storage box, and an Industrial Workbench. This area can also be entered from the vents of the dead scientist in the Cryogen Research Lab area.

Walkways and Stairwell[]

The next area are three walkways, partially blocked by ice. Here are four Zealots, a storage box, and a storage crate. It connects to a stairwell.

The stairwell going up is partially collapsed, so a boostpack has to be used to get up to a higher level. There is a storage box and a dead scientist here with a Cutter. On the corpse of the scientist is the Cryogen Utility Key, which is needed for a door on the stairwell itself. In the hand of the scientist is the Final Report slate.

Going back down the stairwell is an expert-locked door, which can be opened using the Cryogen Utility Key. Behind the door are two storage boxes, a storage crate, and a digipick. Going down further leads to an emergency panel and a door to a hallway. A cutter can be used to break open the panel.

Panel[]

The path behind the panel provides a secondary route to the hallway. A ventilation shaft leads to pipes, however. If these pipes are climbed up, the corpse of a dead scientist can be found. This scientist has the Marzanna Project Data slate, as well as some Harvested Organs.

Hallway and Offices[]

The hallway is defended by two Zealots, and holds a frag grenade and a toxic gas mine which can be looted. A door connects it to an office area. Within the office area, there are three corpses and some food, as well as an advanced-locked door behind which is a storage crate.

The main path leads to a large, partially frozen, room.

Frozen Storage[]

In this area is a Robot Model S, as well as a storage box, three ammo cases, and a science crate. Following the ice up, there are a digipick and a storage box and the door to the exit. Once outside, a switch can be used to open the door.

Charlie's Concerns: Dr. Lars Gayatri[]

"Hey Shannon,
Charlie wanted me to bring up the issues with the lab again. For what it's worth I think we should at least do an evaluation. Our initial system setups don't account for the environment outside the lab.

You know RI won't let us do anything to fix it officially if we don't have something solid. We're all on the same ship here.

Now that's out of the way, time to grab a drink! I'll come down by your office after shift two.

Lars"

Official Response: Ryujin Liaison[]

"From: Ryujin Liaison
Subject: Official Response

Project Marzanna Liaison Shannon Palermo,
Your request for additional resources to address the issues outlined in your previous communication has been reviewed.

The decision has been made to deny these resources at this time. Evaluated risks are well within acceptable parameters.

Proceed with the project as scheduled."

Serious Problem: Charlie Jorgenson[]

"From: Charlie Jorgenson
Subject: Serious Problem

Shannon,
This is important. The issue with the cryo connectors for the lab, and the ambient environmental fluctuations we talked about. It's more serious than I originally thought. I think we'll need to halt the current experiments, pause the whole program and upgrade the labs. We're all in danger here, including you. Please do the right thing and at least have someone look into it.

Dr. Charlie Jorgenson
Marzanna Project Technician

Encryption Task Completed: Marie Bakaba[]

"From: Marie Bakaba
Subject: Encryption Task Completed

My team has completed implementation of the Seshat Encryption. All project data going forward will be encrypted automatically as it is uploaded onto the local servers.

I have also personally overseen the encryption of our older Marzanna Project data.

I agree the value of this data cannot be overstated, and I support any further efforts to lock down possible leak vectors through the scientists and staff here. During our efforts we have found multiple cases of indiscretion among the staff that pose security risks.

As a first additional step I recommend we prevent any project data from being loaded onto personal slates. Please let me know how to proceed.

Thanks,
Marie"
