Alpha Centauri is a star system with four planets and eight moons, and the closest star system to Sol. It is the location of the United Colonies capital city of New Atlantis.[1]

- In real life, Alpha Centauri is a system with three stars: Alpha Centauri A (also known as Rigil Kentaurus), Alpha Centauri B (aka Toliman), and Proxima Centauri (aka Alpha Centauri C). The Alpha Centauri system in Starfield represents Alpha Centauri A, while Toliman is treated as a separate system and Proxima Centauri is absent.
- Each planet and moon in the Alpha Centauri system is named after an astronaut or NASA-affiliated scientist.
