Ballistic Weapon Systems is a Novice Tech Skill. It improves the damage of ballistic weapons in Space Combat.

1 Deal 1000 damage to enemy ships with ballistic weapons. Ballistic ship weapons have 10% increased damage and cost 20% less to use in Targeting Mode.
2 Deal 4000 damage to enemy ships with ballistic weapons. Ballistic ship weapons have 20% increased damage and recharge 15% faster.
3 Deal 10000 damage to enemy ships with ballistic weapons. Ballistic ship weapons have 30% increased damage and recharge 30% faster.
4 N/A Ballistic ship weapons do 50% more damage to individual systems.

Progression and Strategy[]

Ballistic Weapon Systems isn't that hard to level. It is somewhat held back by the fact that the player's starting ship, the Frontier, is equipped with energy weapons as its primary damage output. The player may need to tinker the ship's configuration in order to level this ability the fastest. That said, its largest advantage is that it is the only ship damage output ability that is available from the start of the game.

Ballistic Weapon Systems may or may not be useful, depending on the player's style. Ballistic Weapons are used for doing lots of hull damage, and nearly all ships have shields in the way. Some players simply prefer to mount a lot of laser weapons rather than divide their power between multiple weapon types. The conclusion is that Ballistic Weapons Systems is a situational skill.
