Remnants of the Battle of Niira.
The Battle of Niira was a battle fought during the Colony War between the Freestar Collective and United Colonies on the planet of Niira in the Narion System.
It was one of the biggest battle sites of the war, with many Freestar Militia and UC Marines dying in the fight.[1] The battle continued until the end of the war in 2311, with both sides using all available tools in attempts to turn the battle before peace was made.[2] By the end of the conflict, swathes of Niira had been devastated by the warfare, with the damage still visible as late as 2330.[3]

The planet of Niira was initially occupied by soldiers of the United Colonies, using the planet as a forward operating position. When the Freestar Collective sent out the Freestar Militia to attempt to reclaim the planet, it led to devastation.[3]
The United Colonies deployed numerous Sirens as xenoweapons, with Niira being considered destination number one for xenoweapons during the war.[2] Other xenoweapons were also employed on the planet, though which these were is never specified.[4] The Red Devils suffered heavy losses on Niira.[5]
The Freestar Militia used their notorious First Cavalry during the battle, though they lost nearly all of their Mechs in a large attempt to take over a UC base.[6][4][7] Attempts by the Collective to advance on Parduk Pass failed, with Captain Myeong of the UC Marine Corps holding the site for a week before withdrawing - blowing up the pass in the process and insodoing taking out a Freestar mech battalion.[8] Despite the victory, both the Collective and United Colonies lost many soldiers during the battle of Parduk Pass.[9]
When the First Cavalry started gaining ground, a ceasefire was called due to both sides suffering too many casualties.[4][7] Unwilling to abandon victory and having lost his men for nothing, the commander of the First Cavalry disregarded the order and pushed on, causing both him and those soldiers under him to get court-martialed and locked up,[7] though they still failed in gaining victory despite these efforts.[4] What remained of the First Cavalry was disbanded after the battle.[7][10]
