The Crimson Scar was a criminal organization that served as the predecessor of the Crimson Fleet.
Background[]
Not much is known of the Crimson Scar before 2218, when it recruited Jasper Kryx after a succesful raid on the GalBank Archives in New Atlantis. In 2223, Jasper Kryx murdered the boss of the gang by cutting his throat and leaving his body in the Well. After his, Kryx proceeded to take his place.[1]
Despite Kryx only being twenty-two years of age, his rule over the Scar saw them rise above the other crime syndicates in New Atlantis, both in power and in credits. With this newfounded power and money, the Scar purchased some spacecraft in order to hunt down cargo ships. This also drew the attention of UC Security, which set up a task force to try and stop the Scar.[2]
UC Security successfully destroyed a large part of the Crimson Scar in space, with the remainder of the gang seeking refuge in the Wheel - a starstation orbiting Volii. The fighting that broke out dealt such damage to the station that it ended with its destruction, though there remains a conflicting account on whether it was the damage of fighting or the Scar planting demolition charges. Regardless of the cause, the remaining member of the gang were arrested and brought to the Lock - a high security prison on Suvorov.[3]
Despite Jasper Kryx getting a life sentence, he started a riot which caused a breakout two years after he was brought in. The cause for the uprising was the poor living conditions of the jail, which included freezing temperatures.[3] Following the breakout Kryx and a couple dozen of his fellow jailbreakers captured some United Colonies ships and took over the Key starstation in orbit around Suvorov. Having secured the starstation, Kryx sent out a call to all pirates across the Settled Systems to join him. When pirates arrived to join Kryx, this marked the end of the Crimson Scar, and the founding of the Crimson Fleet.[4]
