The Disciples are a violent gang in the city of Neon.

Background[]

It is not known when or how the Disciples were founded, but they seem to be a constant danger in Neon for quite some time. The Disciples have a very bad reputation among the security guards, citizens and everyone else. The reason for this is most likely their murderous and psychotic behaviour. They are said to act like wild animals and murder without reason. Even people who hand over their money and belongings without resistance can get killed. However, not all members are equally dangerous. Some members are more willing to talk and negotiate than others and can even be reasoned with. They also had no respect towards the Security or the Freestar Rangers. But they still stayed away from tourists and avoided causing trouble at the Core to not risk to anger Benjamin Bayu.

The Disciples were enemies with another gang called Ebbside Strikers. Both gangs had very different views on how a gang should be. While the Strikers saw themselves as a family and one acted violent when necessary, the Disciples saw their actions more like some sort of fun. Several of their members commited their crimes just for fun. Whether it was a murder, a robbery or simple graffiti spraying. In fact, several members of the Disciples seem to be graffity sprayers and considered their vandalism as art.

At some point, the Disciples were able to grow and made some black marked contacts to get in posession of weapons with military quality. When they felt strong enough, they started a full gang war with the Strikers and attacked with immense brutallity. According to Briggs, the leader of the Ebbside Strikers, he and his gang were able to keep the Disciples at bay and at "their side" of Neon until this point. But thanks to their weapons and number, the Disciples had achieved several significant victories and reduced their enemies to a tiny group that had to seek shelter Madame Sauvage's Place, a bar whose owner was allied with the Strikers and had a lot of influence that prevented the Disciples from storming the place and kill the rest of their enemies.

Outside of this conflict, there also was a minor confrontation between a Disciple called Warlord and the gun shop owner Frank Renrick. While trying to break into Franks's shop, two of Warlords fellow gang members were killed by Styx, Frank's robot who guarded this place. As revenge, Warlord snuck close to Styx without activating the alarm and sprayed grafiti all over the robots chassis.

Around this time, the Spacefarer arrived at Neon and was apporched by the local Digger Zemin, who warned as many travelers as possible about the Disciples, because they killed his friend for fun. The Spacefarer eventually followed this lead and met with the remains of the Ebbside Strikers in their hideout. He/She decided to join the gang and help to take actions against the Disciples and weakened their influence. Not long afterwards, the Spacefarer met with a Disciple called Holt Henley, who was probably the leader of the Disciples at this time. Holt offered the Spacefarer a huge amout of credits to join the Disciples instead and kill the rest of the Ebbside Strikers.

If the Spacefarer chooses to accept the offer and kill the remaining Ebbside Strikers, the Disciples take over the whole area of Ebbside. If he/she refuses the offer, Holt will attack him and dies in the confrontation. Later, the Strikers will attack the headquarter of the the Disciples and take out many gang members. The Disciples are still active, but reduced to a minor thread in Neon.

Trivia[]

  • In the Vanguard Orientation Hall, at the exhibition about the Freestar Collective, there is a Disciples gang wear next to a uniform of the Freestar Rangers and the 1st Cavalry Division. It is unclear why exactly it is there, since the Disciples are just a street gang and not a governmental organization, but it seems that the Disciples have some questionable fame far behind the borders of Neon.
    • It is also possible that the Disciples depict the worst the United Colonies sees in the Freestar Collective and put it ther just for mocking and propaganda.
  • The Disciples use Seokguh Syndicate dialogue in combat.
