Quick Walkthrough[]
Detailed Walkthrough[]
Arriving for the first time in the orbit of Porrima II, you will meet a drifting huge ship of unknown design. From the surface of the planet, the head of the security service of the Paradiso resort, Jiro Sugiyama, will contact your ship and ask you to meet with him for a conversation. If you try to hail this ship, all your attempts to get a response will be answered by strange, unintelligible noises in the messages. You can meet Jiro Sugiyama and learn from him about the inconvenience caused by the unknown ship to the resort, and he will invite you to investigate this ship. Or you can dock straight away and board the ship yourself. Once on board, you will enter into the cargo bay, where you are greeted with surprise by the crew members. The meeting party consists of armed guards led by Security Officer Bomani Rida, the ship's captain Diana Brackenridge and the ship's doctor Dr. Mabhuti Da Costa, the oldest of the crew.
From the conversation you can learn that upon arriving in orbit of the planet, the crew discovered that the planet was already colonized; in orbit they saw other unknown ships and tried to contact them, but the attempts were unsuccessful. During the conversation, the captain will offer to go to the bridge of the ship for a conversation, telling its story along the way. The name of the ship is Earth Colony Ship Constant or ECS Constant for short, it is a generation ship that departed from Earth before the disaster almost 200 years ago. At that time, gravdrive technology was not yet known, and the crew had no information about other interstellar colonization projects, considering themselves the last survivors from Earth. This explains their surprise when it turned out that the ships and settlements they encountered on the planet belonged to humans.
Having been in flight for so long, the ship's systems were badly worn out, and the ship miraculously reached its destination. During the flight, the landing shuttles were lost. The crew planned to arrive at the site and begin making new ones by dismantling the ship, but having discovered that the planet was inhabited, they did not risk the ship until they could find out more about the situation.
Captain Diana Brackenridge is a descendant of the creator and first captain of ECS Constant. She believes that the colonists on board have a priority right to populate the planet, and wants Spacefarer to convey to the management of the Paradiso Group the demand to cede the rights to the colony to them. She rejects the proposal to find a free place on the planet and create another settlement in a remote place.
After landing on the planet at the Paradiso landing pad, talk to Jiro Sugiyama about the situation with the colonization ship. He will refer you to the head of the company, CEO Oliver Campbell. The secretary will stop you at the reception, after telling her the reason for the meeting, she will let you into the meeting room, where three company leaders are sitting at the table. After your story about ECS Constant, Oliver Campbell will offer 3 possible outcomes to resolve the situation.
1) Conditionally good option. Equipping the colonists' ship with a gravdrive, with up-to-date information about explored star systems, they can choose another suitable planet and try to establish a colony there. You will have to pay for the drive and modifications. Conditionally good, since the ship is very old, it is unknown how it will survive the jump and whether the colonists will be able to create a viable colony on their own.
2) Morally questionable option. One of the leaders will offer to allow the colonists to settle on the planet, in exchange for placement they will be saddled with a huge debt, to pay which they will have to work as resort staff. Planet Porrima II is outside the jurisdiction of both UC and FC; order is maintained by the company's own security service. Once in debt, the colonists will be at the complete mercy of the Paradiso Group. To build housing for the colonists, you will be required to provide materials.
3) Evil option. In conversation, Oliver Campbell will casually mention that it would be much easier if the ship no longer existed at all. If you want to clarify what he meant, this remark will already cause a negative reaction from your companions from the Constellation. Oliver will answer that, according to information from his friend, on such old ships, overload can cause the destruction of the reactor, but he did not advise you anything (Hello there, Fo3 Megaton).
If you choose to purchase the gravdrive and ECS Constant modification, you will be sent to a HopeTech engineer, Bennu St. James, for installation assistance. In a conversation with him, Bennu will tell you that he knows where it can be found an outdated version of the drive in good condition suitable for such an old ship. The price for the gravdrive itself and the work of transporting and installing it is 40k credits. If you have the Persuasion skill, it is possible to convince him to reduce the price, then he will not charge for the installation work, but you will need to pay for the purchase of the drive itself for 25k credits. After payment, he will give you the gravdrive installation manual and instruct you to notify the captain of ECS Constant and, together with the ship's engineer, prepare the ship for modernization. After which, his team and Paradiso's team of engineers will deliver and install the necessary gravity drive.
On board ECS Constant in engineering bay, you will find chief engineer Amin Kazemi. After informing him of the necessary preparations for installing the gravdrive, he will ask you to perform three operations for this: reroute power from the port turbo pump to the auxiliary cryogenic radiator, turn the plasma run-off inhibitor to 5%, and decouple the magnetic flange pipe enclosures from the auxiliary module assembly. After completing all operations, you can report your success to Captain Diana Brackenridge. Mission completed.
If you choose to persuade the colonists to accept a deal with the Paradiso Group, Oliver Campbell will give you a list of resources that the company wants from you. Citing the need to build additional facilities to accommodate the new colonists. Having conveyed the terms of the Paradiso Group, Diana Brackenridge will consider them reasonable. With the Persuasion skill, you can convince her to cover part of the resources needed to accommodate the colonists, she will send you to get them from Daisuke Levitz. Once you've gathered all the resources you need, let Diana Brackenridge know. Since ECS Constant no longer has landing shuttles on board, the captain will ask you to take her and several crew members to Paradiso. After landing at the spaceport, accompany the group and talk to Diana Brackenridge. She will thank you and the mission will be completed.
Fireworks over Paradiso. To overload the reactor, you require the key to the reactor terminal, which is in the inventory of chief engineer Amin Kazemi. In order not to immediately engage in battle with the entire crew, you require the Theft skill to steal the key from the engineer’s pocket. The reactor overload mode requires confirmation from the ship's captain. To do this, you need to hack the captain's computer on the bridge. Once the overload mode is confirmed, the alarm will sound and the entire crew will become hostile. Leave the ship, and ECS Constant will soon explode.
