Geology is a Novice Science Skill. It is used to harvest crafting materials.

Progression and Strategy[]
Geology isn't hard to level. Simply land at an arbitrary location on a planet and harvest inorganic resources. In Starfield, unlike in reality, inorganic material is any of the harvestable nonliving matter, such as Lead and even Carboxylic Acids.
Geology can be useful to crafting-oriented characters. It also has a lot of overlap with Surveying in how it is leveled, so a player may want to pursue both simultaneously. Geology can become a bit redundant in the late game if the player sets up mining outposts, but otherwise will be useful throughout the game.
All the geology rank bonuses are compatible with the Elemental Pull power.
