Grandmother is the pilot of the independent ship Grandma. She can be randomly encountered when arriving in a planet's orbit, and will hail the Spacefarer with an invitation to board her ship and join her for a meal.

Grandmother retired in 2329 and has been traveling the Settled Systems alone in the Grandma, much to the consternation of her grandchildren. Traveling was a lifelong dream that she regrets not being able to fulfill when she was younger. Her husband used to travel with her, but he has passed away. She prefers to eat with company, and so she invites anyone she encounters to join her for a meal, and enjoys meeting the variety of people who accept.
Grandmother's visitors are often eccentric. She will recount that one was a nudist who apparently spent his entire time in his own ship naked because no one else could see him in space. And he did not have the presence of mind to get dressed before he boarded her ship.
After Grandmother hails the Spacefarer, her ship can be approached and docked with. Grandmother can be found sitting at a table on the ship's second level. While conversing with her, she can be asked about herself and will provide a free food item. The Spacefarer can optionally give Grandmother 1000 credits to help her cover her traveling expenses, and in gratitude she will give a second food item. Eventually, she will bring up that she wants to take a nap and end the conversation, but she gives permission for her visitor to take anything they need from her ship before they leave.
