Groundpounder is a mission received upon arrival in the Altair system. A Freestar Collective research outpost on Altair II has been besieged by Spacers and they require assistance.

Detailed Walkthrough[]
Land on Altair II at the research outpost and make your way through the exterior, taking out Spacers and local fauna. Once clear, get inside the building and follow the mission marker to Private Mahoney, who will have retreated into a utility closet. She will ask you to find a UC Marine named Lezama. Go towards the mission marker, and you'll have plenty of Spacers to kill. Once they're all dead you can enter the infirmary and meet Lezama and Dr. Adamou Moussa. Moussa explains the scientists are astrobiologists studying the life forms of plants - trying to gain valuable insights on what they can do for humanity. The research charter also specifies that the research is not for military use.
Lezama sends you to Lieutenant Torres in order to save him. As usual, blast every spacer on your way. In a room on the top floor is Lieutenant Torres and Sergeant Dasari. The sergeant doesn't want to help the Marines, but Lieutenant Torres wants to save those that saved them. The Sergeant gives you a key and both follow you to reach Captain Myeong. She is with Private Tsai who is very enthusiastic about the Captain's exploits. Your 4 companions formulate a plan, and you are sent to a Research Camp to help civilians. Take your ship there.
After a short hike you will have to eliminate all the Spacers outside the research camp. Do this and head into the airlock to speak to the survivors. After speaking to them, head back to Lieutenant Torres at Research Outpost U3-09. Lieutenant Torres will be waiting on the landing pad with Captain Myeong. She will ask you to take down two groups of ships orbiting two nearby planets, which will cut off the Spacers reinforcements. Once you take both groups of Spacer ships down, Private Mahoney will ask you to come back on the double, explaining that the Spacers must have taken notice of your assault and launched a counterattack on the research outpost. Head back to the research outpost. The outpost will be littered with 10+ spacers. Once you take the initial Spacer wave out, 2 more ships will land with waves of ~5 troops. Once all 3 Spacer waves have been dealt with, you are to report to Lieutenant Torres. After a philosophical discussion about the cost of war, Myeong and Torres will thank you and the mission will end, with you receiving your rewards.

- If you're a Freestar Ranger or member of the UC Vanguard, you'll receive unique dialogue options when interacting with Private Mahoney in the supply closet.
- If you're a Freestar Ranger or member of the UC Vanguard, you'll receive unique dialogue options when interacting with Captain Myeong.
- Shortly after the mission, you may run into a UC Navy ship named Nebula, and you will be hailed by Captain Myeong. You will have a short follow up conversation about the mission and she will gift you a rare weapon.
