Grunt Work

Grunt Work is the second UC Vanguard faction mission in Starfield.

Objectives[]

  1. Speak to Crew Chief Herath at the New Atlantis Spaceport.
  2. Make contact with the settlers on Tau Ceti II
  3. Investigate the scream
  4. Speak to the woman
  5. Restore the security system connection
  6. Allow Hadrian to analyze the system
  7. Kill the Terrormorph
    1. (Optional) Restore power to the "kill lanes" (3)
  8. Tune the livestock tracker to 183.5
  9. Wait for the system to reengage
  10. Collect the Terrormorph Tissue Sample
  11. Return to Hadrian
  12. Follow Hadrian
  13. Speak to Hadrian
  14. Return to Commander Tuala

Detailed Walkthrough[]

First head to the Spaceport to meet Crew Chief Herath. Instead of approaching the landing pad the Spacefarer's ship usually lands at, head to the landing pad opposite. Here Crew Chief Kane Herath can be found. Speak to him. He will load the your ship's cargo hold with the repair kit for Tau Ceti II and an equipment pack given to new vanguards. If you check the cargo hold on your ship, this package contains a weapon, ammunition, and some aid items (a random assortment of med packs, UC rations, bandages, and other medical items).

After speaking to Herath, head to your ship and proceed to the Tau Gourmet Production Center at Tau Ceti II. Upon landing, head towards the production center.

Tau Gourmet: Common Quarters[]

Before you head to the production center, check in the settler's common room and quarters overlooking the production center to find the skill magazine The New Atlantian 01 on a table on the second level of the building. Inside, you'll also find the remnants of dead settlers. On the exterior there are multiple destroyed turrets along with claw marks on the side of the building. There is also a terminal describing the settlement on the first floor. After looting the skill magazine and any other items in the settlers quarters, bathroom, and common room, you can head down to the production facility. Upon reaching the lower landing zone and proceeding towards the next building, a scream can be heard. A voice will be heard once you are closer to the building, telling you to “come and stay quiet”.

Tau Gourmet Production Center[]

Go to the voice and speak to Hadrian Sanon by entering the building, taking the stairs to the right and going through the door ahead. She'll state the complex was attacked by a Terrormorph and she needs assistance to reset her admin terminal here, as it requires reaching the security outpost further in to re-establish the connection. Leave the room and proceed to the rear of the complex and locate the reset switch. Once the reset has been thrown, Hadrian will be able to determine how to track the terrormorph using the livestock sensors by setting them to frequency 183.5 in the adjacent room to the Spacefarer.

Once the frequency is set, the Terrormorph will appear and must be killed. This can be done with brute force alone (not recommended unless you are high level), or with the assistance of the complex's remaining turrets, which will involve throwing six breakers across the complex (two for each “kill lane”.)

Once the Terrormorph has been killed, collect the tissue sample from it. Before you return to Hadrian, in some crates behind where the Terrormorph killed the Ankylosaurus, you'll find a weapon case containing the unique weapon Radburn.

Return to Hadiran with the sample. She'll try to analyze the sample but does not have the proper equipment to do so. She will request the sample is delivered to a Dr. Percival Walker at the Sixth Circle on Mars and provides her gene tag to prove to the United Colonies Vanguard of the importance of the job if the Spacefarer requires authorization.

Travel back to New Atlantis to and report to Commander Tuala. Give him Hadrian's genetag. He will check the database on Hadrian and state she was a former co-head of a UC Xenoweapons division during the Colony War and was dismissed from duty after the war. He will give you clearance to continue the mission after weighing the reasons for Hadrian sending you to him. If you haven't started the mission Deep Cover, he will also provide you with that mission and give you clearance for that path, should you choose to take it (completing Deep Cover won't block you from completing Delivering Devils, however, and vice versa). He will then send you off with your rewards and welcome you to the UC Vanguard.
