Starfield Wiki

Major Hadrian Sanon is a researcher and military scientist who works alongside Dr. Percival Walker and is presently a founding member and Co-Head of the United Colonies Terrormorph Management Division (TMD).

Background[]

A clone of François Sanon, and former member of the Red Devils, her eyes were turned red by Martian dust as a rite of passage into the group.

At the age of 19, Hadrian Sanon was assigned to the newly formed Red Devils squad. Dr. Percival Walker treated her arrogantly at the first meeting, but a week later, after demonstrating Hadrian Sanon's skills as a researcher and organizer, he changed his attitude. Although Red Devils units took part in the Battle of Niira, Hadrian herself did not participate in the battle, but was well acquainted with many of the Red Devils who died in it.

With the end of the Colony War and the signing of the Armistice, as part of the UC Xenowarfare Division, the Red Devils were disbanded and their members were discharged from military service. Hadrian Sanon began traveling to the far reaches of explored systems, studying local life forms. Spacefarer first encounters her on the planet Tau Ceti II during the UC Vanguard mission. Having jointly dealt with the problem, she asks you to seek help in research from her old colleague Dr. Walker. This starts a quest chain that ends with the final UC faction mission. After which, President Alexandra Abello will ask the three of you to establish a new Terrormorph Management Division (TMD) based at the former Red Devil's HQ.

Recruitment[]

Upon completing A Legacy Forged and speaking to Commander Tuala you can return to the TMD Headquarters on Mars and speak to Percival Walker who gives you the option to speak with Hadrian to persuade her to travel with you as a companion.

During "Hostile Intelligence", Hadrian Sanon wears the UC Wardog spacesuit set, but if you convince her to join the crew after completing the UC Vanguard questline, her defaults suit replaced with the Navigator spacesuit.

Show: Grunt Work

"So what've we got here? Too clean to be one of the settlers. Or a pirate. UC on patrol, maybe? Make my day if you said you were a shock trooper out for a stroll."

Uh, are you okay? "Oh, I've been better, but I think bleeding out is at least off the table. What I really need, though, is someone who knows their way around a weapon. So if you wanted to tell me "I'm heavy infantry, and I've come to bring you the gift of ordnance," I wouldn't mind in the least."
[Combat Medic] You're not looking so hot. I think I can help. "You-- Oh. That is a little better. Th-thank you for that."
[Soldier] Not getting manpower like that outside wartime. You'll have to settle for a Vanguard recruit. "Heh. Haven't brought "the joke" to your homeworld just yet, huh? But UC Vanguard's a hell of a lot better than what I've got."
[Lie] Your shock trooper is here to save the day. "Heh. Of course you are. My hero. At least you follow orders well. Maybe you are military. Either way, we can make this work."
Actually, the Vanguard sent me... though they failed to mention how bad things were. "Vanguard, huh? Yeah, I expect they didn't."
"I'm Hadrian. I'm a... I was a researcher with the UC. I came here on a rumor of a... well, I expect you saw the results on your way in. What's... left of the settlers? The work of "Occisio Machina." A Terrormorph. One of the nastiest aliens humanity's ever crossed paths with. And this one... well, it's something of an anomaly. Possibly a worrying one. I was trying to get a tissue sample from the thing to confirm, but got myself torn up in the process. To get my sample, I'm going to need a Terrormorph corpse."
A Terrormorph? What's that? "Among apex predators, they're the pinnacle. Resilient, agile, smart, and their mental prowess only increases with age. Some can even dominate the minds of weaker species, keeping them as pets, livestock... or toys. They're creatures... without peer."
Wait. Are all the settlers dead, then? "I managed to scope out a fair bit of the facility before it found me. If there are any survivors of the attack, they're long gone."
What kind of "anomaly" are we talking here? "Terrormorphs have... a unique growth cycle. They're usually only found on worlds that've been long-colonized by humanity. But Tau Ceti's too young to have one. Yet... here it is. I came looking for an explanation and found... all this."
Sounds like you could use my help then. "I sure could. Because to confirm my suspicions about this creature, I'm going to need a tissue sample from it. And to get that, I need its corpse.
Uh, I'm not exactly equipped to deal with a killer alien. "No. Why would you be? But I need a tissue sample from that creature's corpse and I'm in no shape to get on my own... And I'm worried a lot more people could end up like these settlers if I don't get it."
"But there's a way we can give ourselves an edge against this thing - the plant's security system. The admin terminal's here in this building, but it needs its connection reset. And, as I've found out, that's not a one-person job. But if you can make it to the security outpost and restore the connection, I think I can get things back online, see if the settler's left us any other tools."
Whoa, whoa. I came here to help some settlers, not play chew toy to some alien. "Look, I wouldn't be asking if I thought there was any chance I could handle it by myself. But there's no way I'm getting these defenses live on my own... and I have to get to the bottom of what happened here."
What can you tell me about this security system? "The settlers outfitted most of the buildings with turrets at some point. Not sure how many are still operable, but at least a few appeared to be in fighting shape. There were also some sensors scattered around the facility that I didn't recognize. But those are honestly all just educated guesses until we get the connection reset."
Where can I find the security outpost? "It's the building in the middle of the facility. The terminal in there should allow you to grant me access to the system as a whole. Then we can see about getting things back online."
You're not coming with me? "Admin access is centralized to the terminal in this room. Nothing's coming back online if I'm not here. But even if that weren't the case, I'd likely be more of a liability out there than a help right now."
All right. Let's get that security system back online. "Good. Once I see the connection reset, I'll get things underway on my end. Take care of yourself out there. And make sure you leave enough of that thing for us to get a sample."

-
After slaying the Terrormorph:
-

"Tracker's gone quiet. I suspect it's either hiding or-- Wait. You did it, didn't you? Heavens above. You just flatlined a Terrormorph."

Yup. All taken care of. "Oh yeah. "Taken care of." No big deal."
I believe the words you're looking for are "Thank you for saving my ass." "I'm not too proud. "Thank you for saving my ass.""
Try not to sound so surprised. "No offence intended. I've just known whole Marine squads who couldn't take down a Terrormorph. To do it yourself... that's something else."
"Didn't happen to grab me a tissue sample, did you?"
Can you really learn much from one little sample? "A lot of life gets recorded in our cells. Like, for example, if this Terrormorph's cells have certain radiation or chemical exposures, it could point to it having been transported on a ship. Then we could start getting some answers about this thing. So did you manage to nab one?"
What's that, sample? You think the nice lady should pay me for rescuing you? "Not doing this one out of the goodness of your heart, huh? I'll give you what I can. You certainly deserve it. Forewarning, though, I'm not exactly New Atlantis royalty."
Here you go. "All right. I spotted a microscope downstairs. Let's see if we can't get to the bottom of this."

-
At the research station:
-

"This equipment, it's not set up to do a proper analysis of our sample. But this Terrormorph being here, of all places, it doesn't make sense. Humanity's spread plenty of creatures in our travels across the stars - pets, livestock, pests. But Terrormorphs, they're... different. To our knowledge, no one's ever spread them intentionally. Yet somehow, they follow us. So when humans settle a world, 70 to a 100 years later, Terrormorphs tend to just... appear, but no one knows how or why. Dangerous, but at least predictable. Tau Ceti, though, it's too young to have a native population. It's only been colonized... twenty years? But then the other option - that someone captured one of the deadliest predators in the galaxy just to wipe out some settlers minding their own business? That seems awfully implausible. Which means we're either looking at a truly strange murder... or a faster type of Terrormorph growth, the results of which could be... catastrophic. Terrormorph outbreaks have taken down far bigger colonies than this one."

How does no one know how Terrormorphs get onto human worlds? Aren't they kind of hard to miss? "Well, they're not exactly buying tickets and flying coach. The theory is that they're spread by some kind of egg or seed that's able to evade our detection. But how the hell an undetectable egg turns into a Terrormorph without anyone noticing is a question no one's ever found an answer to. And it's why what's happened here could be real bad news for the rest of human civilization."
Terrormorphs have taken down other colonies? "They have. They even took down an entire city once. A place called Londinion had to be quarantined due to a massive outbreak during the Colony War. It's the only known loss of that scale, but it's the reason why any change in our relationship with these creatures needs to be taken very seriously."
That feels like a big leap to make from a single sample. "You're right. We don't have enough information."
Sounds like we need to do something. Quick. "You're right. We just need more information first."
I'm sure there's a rational explanation to this. "There is. There has to be. We just have to find it."
"Time was, I had access to one of the best repositories of Terrormorph research in the galaxy. Seems a natural place to start looking... if I can figure out how to access to it. But we also need to get this sample properly analyzed. Get confirmation on just how concerned we should be. Luckily, I think I know just the person to help with the sample. What would you say to delivering this to him for me? I'd do it myself, but I need to call in some favors, see if I can't get access to that Terrormorph data... Plus maybe just pop by a hospital for a little bit. Clear it with your commander first if you have to. You can even show them this. My genetag. Tell them Hadrian Sanon is worried there could be more attacks on the horizon. They should recognize the name."
Why would my commander know who you are? Are you with the UC military, too? "I was. Long time ago. Family tradition. But I know some of the folks from my old unit moved into the Vanguard. Couple even owe me favors. If I'm lucky, your commander is one."
Not sure that's going to be possible. I've got plenty on my plate as is. "I get it. And I get that you've already gone above and beyond here for me, but I really need your help."
I'll mention it, but I'm not making any promises. "That's all I'm asking."
Don't worry. I'll make sure my commander agrees. "You don't understand what a weight off my shoulders that is."
"I need Dr. Percival Walker to put together a sample analysis for this thing. Full-work up. He'll know what that means. I'm not sure exactly where to find him, but last I heard, he was contracting with the Trade Authority on Mars. There's a place called "The Sixth Circle" in Cydonia. Bar run by some old friends. I'll meet you and Percival there. And here. It's not exactly a bounty, but you certainly deserve them. Should cover the cost of fuel to Mars at least. Now, please, go check in with your commander. We need to know what we're dealing with."
Show: Delivering Devils

"Lou gave me the abridged version of what went down. I can't thank you enough for taking care of all that."
(Percival:) "Makes two of us."
"I hope it ultimately didn't end up being too much trouble."

A little more gunfire than I usually like on my delivery jobs, but nothing I couldn't manage. "That's... well, that's certainly not what I was expecting you'd have to go through. But thank you. I'm just glad you both came through intact."
It was no walk in the park. "And I'm sorry about that. I'm just glad you both came through it intact."
"Too much trouble" is exactly how I'd describe the experience I just had. "That's definitely not what I thought I was signing you up for... but thank you."

-
After Hadrian speaks with Percival:
-

"With both of us."

[United Colonies Native] Only ever read about the Cabinet in civics class. Never expected I'd get to talk to them. "It can be a daunting experience... which is why I wanted to make sure, before you agreed to anything, we gave you the whole truth."
[Freestar Collective Settler] Not sure I like the idea of being picked apart by a bunch of stiff-collar UC bureaucrats. "It can certainly be a daunting experience... which is why I wanted to make sure, before you agreed to anything, we gave you the whole truth."
The Cabinet? What's that? "The Cabinet's the UC's highest governing body. The President, top military brass, scientific and diplomatic division heads. Any major decision the UC makes goes through them. They're the only real chance we've got of unlocking the Archives, so without their blessing, we're flying blind."
What's the "Armistice Archives"? And what's it have to do with the Freestar Collective and House Va'ruun? "Well, when the Colony War came to a close nineteen years ago with the signing of the Armistice, three factions were involved in the negotiations... The UC, Freestar, and House Va'ruun. They made a lot of decisions about what sort of tactics should and shouldn't be permitted in future conflicts. All information related to the things they decided should be... banned... was locked away in the Archives. Now it's possible to get things out of there, but only with the agreement of members from all three factions. And as to what our research is doing in there... well, I'll get to that."
Doesn't sound like any run-of-the-mill data you're after. Think you owe me an explanation. "Of course. You deserve the full story."
If all you need is someone to charm some higher-ups, I'm your guy. "That's about the best news I've had all day, but before you commit, I want to make sure you know the whole story."
"Percival and I, we're not just researchers. We were military scientists. Ran a division of the UC together that deployed aliens on the battlefield as weapons."
(Percival:) "Place I was hiding out? That was our unit's home base."
"After some early fits and starts at other facilities, the place eventually became the heart of UC Xenowarfare. A practice that's been banned ever since the Armistice went into effect almost 20 years ago... and the UC military cut us loose for what we'd done."
Then what does that make you two now? Is the UC going to throw me in prison for helping you? "No. We were both dismissed after the war for what we did. These days we're just... concerned citizens. With a very particular area of expertise. Our damage has been done for a long time."
Was wondering if you were ever going to share that nugget with me. "Oh. You already knew. I-I'm sorry about that. It didn't seem relevant in the moment and, well, it's... it's not something I'm exactly proud of. But it was during that assignment that the UC asked us to explore deploying Terrormorphs on the battlefield."
I actually know who you are. And your past, well, that's none of my concern. "I really appreciate you saying that. It's not something I'm exactly proud of."
Still doesn't explain what this Terrormorph data is doing in the Archives. "Well, it was during that assignment that the UC asked us to explore deploying Terrormorphs on the battlefield."
"The project never got off the ground, but the data our team gathered is now sitting in the Archives, along with all the other information banned after the Colony War. Under the watchful eye of monitors from all the galactic factions still participating in regular politics. But if we can convince the Cabinet to help us access that data, it'll give us the tools we need to decipher what exactly this sample might mean... And, hopefully, how to prevent more attacks like the one that spawned it."
Why wouldn't the Cabinet agree to help us? "I mean, I hope they will, given the evidence we've acquired. But getting the Freestar Collective and House Va'ruun on our side, that won't be easy."
(Percival:) "Since neither group is exactly on great terms with the UC at the moment. For various reasons."
"Exactly. It's going to mean negotiations and deals and plenty of diplomatic legwork to see this through. But I don't see a better option to solving what's going on here, so it's going to be up to us to get them onboard."
And why should I trust you with this data? How do I know it's not dangerous? "Because the Terrormorph project was doomed from the start. Terrormorphs are too mean, too smart, too hungry to be used in combat. Trust us. We tried. The data that's in the Archives, it's historical write-ups, anatomical notation, food-chain analyses. I doubt they would've even classified it if it didn't have a Xenowarfare logo on it. You have my word - it's not a threat."
I'm going to need some time to think about this. "Of course. Take all the time you need. I need to get this data into the hands of the Cabinet anyway. Once you've made up your mind, you can find me out front of MAST on New Atlantis. I hope... I hope to see you there."
Not thrilled about you keeping information from me, but I guess I can help you. "All right. I'm going to go get this work-up into the Cabinet's hands. I'll meet you out front of MAST in New Atlantis."
Okay. Then let's go talk to this Cabinet. "That's all I'm asking. Thank you. Now, I need to get this work-up in the Cabinet's hands. Once that's done, I'll meet you out front of MAST in New Atlantis."
(Percival:) "Good luck. You two are going to need it."
Show: Eyewitness

"Captain. Over here."
"The work-up's in the Cabinet's hands. They said they'll call for us once they've gotten to properly review it. But, listen. I know I should've been more forthcoming about who I was earlier. So, in the interest of full disclosure, there's one more thing you ought to know before we head up there. My relationship with the UC, it's... more complicated than it might seem at first glance. The UC's actually the only reason I'm here in the first place. I... am a clone. Of a man named François Sanon. One-time Fleet Admiral of the UC during the Colony War. Former head of the UC Navy. They called him "Vae Victis." "Woe to the defeated" in Old Earth Latin. A title he earned. The program I was a part of, it was the UC's attempt to create a new generation of military minds from one of their most respected tacticians. Secure the leadership of the UC military for generations to come."

Are there others from your program still out there? Other clones? "I'm the last. A few of my siblings, they passed when we were young. Training accidents and the like. But most of rest were deployed to the front lines during the Colony War. And they never came back. Not a day goes by where I don't think about what the world would look like with them still in it."
You're a clone? Of a man? How's that work? "A non-trivial amount of gene editing. "Clone" honestly isn't even really the right term for our relationship, thanks to the amount of donor material that was required to bring me into this world. He and I are different on more than a few levels. But there's no denying the fact we're inextricably linked."
This Vae Victis must've been an impressive commander for the UC to want to clone him. "He would've happily told you he was one of the greats. Ultimately, though, it didn't matter."
Doesn't sound like they succeeded in securing that legacy. "No. They made a pretty grave miscalculation."
I'm more interested in what this has to do with us addressing the Cabinet. "I'm getting there."
"The man I was cloned from... my... father was executed for acts he committed during the war. The man caused a lot of death - on both sides. Freestar Collective... and UC. Military... and civilians. And the things he did, well, they're part of the reason the UC and Freestar Collective aren't really on great terms to this day. So my involvement, it could be another obstacle they throw at us up there. I just wanted you to be forewarned."
What did your father do to merit being executed? "He had his men open fire on civilian ships during the Battle of Cheyenne. A battle that he ultimately ended up losing anyway, devastating the UC fleet, and bringing the Colony War to an ugly end for the UC. But... he's also the one who ordered the bombing of the Londinion spaceport during their outbreak, condemning countless lives. Both sides agreed the Settled Systems would be better without him."
Wow. And I thought my family was messed up. "My areas of expertise are pretty specific, but messed-up families are up there."
So you're using me to distract them. Great. "It's not like that. You need to be here. You're the only other eyewitness. What you say up there matters. I just wanted to make sure you knew all the hurdles we're about to face."
Not sure I can blame them. This "family" of yours doesn't sound like they were paragons of virtue. "That's... not an unfair assessment. But what we're doing now... I'm really trying to set some things right here. So your help means a lot more than I figured you might realize. I just thought you ought to know."
You're not your father. If the Cabinet doesn't see that, it's their problem, not yours. "I... I really appreciate you saying that. I just thought you deserved to know... considering how much you've done already."
"You know, while we've got a second, was there anything else we needed to discuss? I know you got dropped into the middle of this pretty fast. Or if you've got any last minute business to attend to, now might be a good time. No telling how long the Cabinet's going to keep us waiting out here."
Your eyes. They're red. Is that a result of the cloning process? "That's actually a souvenir from my time on Mars. The Red Devils unit I was a part of, they were founded by recruits who'd worked some of Mars' deepest mines. Folks used to adversity. The dust at those depths, it seeps into everything. The human eye included. Where the name "Red Devils" came from in the first place. It became an unwritten rite of passage that anyone wanting to enlist with the Devils had to do a stint in the mines before they could join up. The Devils were always talked about in such revered tones during my training, so as soon as I was old enough, I signed up. And the eyes were my parting gift."
Are you willing to tell me any more about your father? "I mean, we never spent a lot of time together - he was too busy being Fleet Admiral to deal with kids. I was raised by a pair of guardians instead. Until his defeat during the Colony War, though, he was known as an extremely effective commander. Savvy, perceptive. That mind opened a lot of doors for him... and for me too. But Vae Victis, for all his ability, was heartless. Ruthless to a fault. In the end, that's what cost him his life."
Any suggestions on what I should say to the Cabinet? "Well, thinking about it more, I suspect there'd be value in sharing the fact that the Terrormorph project was, well, a failure. There's no need to be afraid of this data being weaponized. Knowing that should calm some of the Cabinet's fears and make it easier for us to dispel any suspicions the other factions may have about our intentions."
So honestly, what are the risks of us accessing this data? "Eye strain from the amount of reading I've got on the horizon if we succeed? The Terrormorph project never went anywhere. It couldn't. They're deadly creatures, but they aren't Xenoweapons. The Cabinet not opening the Archives is probably a bigger risk than them handing over the files. That data itself isn't dangerous. Which probably wouldn't be a bad point for us to bring up, should the opportunity arise."
Actually, I need to go take care of a few things. "Come find me when you're done."
Don't have any questions, no. "Then I guess it's just a matter of--"
(Central Broadcast System:) "The Cabinet meeting is about to begin. All parties please proceed to the Cabinet Chambers."
"Sounds like our cue. Here we go."

-
At the NAT station, after saving UC Security:
-

"... phermonic projection. Some Terrormorphs, they can induce this... fog. It affects everyone differently, but some people just... lose control. Turn against everyone around them... even if they don't want to. Like they're a puppet. You kill the Morph, you break the hold, but this means we're going to need to be real careful with our fire... and keep that EM weapon at the ready."

So does this mean I need to worry about you turning on me? "I... honestly was just wondering the same thing. But no, you don't need to worry about me. I've had a Terrormorph try it on me before. I'm not susceptible. So we'll just have to make sure to... watch out for each other down there."
Are you suggesting Terrormorphs can... control someone's mind? "I'm not suggesting. It's documented behavior. The result of the projection, though, can vary wildly. Some folks just shrug it off. Others hallucinate. And some... lose control all together. They'll lash out at anyone around them... but still be aware while they're doing it. Those cases, you'll either need to knock them out with EM fire... or free them by killing the Terromorph."
If someone comes at me, I'm putting them down. "Well, you better keep that EM weapon loaded then. Now let's move."
Sounds like we need to hustle. "Let's do it."
Show: Friends Like These

"Time for us to start getting some real answers - and figure out if we've been asking the right questions. So, whenever you're ready."

Actually, let me take care of one quick thing first. "Uh, all right. Just, make it quick, I guess."
Is the answer to stopping more attacks really in here? "You're carrying the most comprehensive collection of information on Terrormorphs in the known universe. If we can't pry an answer out of there, it likely doesn't exist. Certainly doesn't mean it's going to be easy... but we're not going to know until Percival and I dig in. So, whenever you're ready."
I made someone a promise, Hadrian. Can you assure me this data will be used for good? "I... yes. It will be. Percival and I have done our damage. This... this is us starting to put some things right."
Here. Glad to be rid of this damn thing. "Uh, acknowledged and accepted, I guess. Thanks, Captain."
Major, you may take possession of the Terrormorph data. "Acknowledged and accepted, Captain."
"So, with the data out of the way, we've been discussing where exactly this work's getting done. The Red Devils headquarters on Mars, back where you found Percival, seemed the natural spot. Already has the equipment, the safety measures. Should even be able to house its own cadre of independent observers. Though it sounded like the Deputy had a few more things she needed to discuss with you first."
(MacIntyre:) "Indeed. The most important of which is getting you your citizenship."
"Then I guess we'll see you on Mars."
Show: War Relics

"Captain. Welcome back."
"Was afraid you might've gotten reassigned, you'd been gone so long. So, how's it feel to be a citizen?"

You know, I'd almost forgotten I was a citizen. A lot happened in the interim. "Heh. Must've changed up how the ceremony works. I just raised my hand and said "sure, I'm in.""
I'm not thrilled associating with a group like the United Colonies. "Hmm. Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. UC's certainly got its fair share of skeletons. Present company included, I suppose."
If I'm honest, it doesn't really feel any different. "To each their own. Still remember my ceremony. Nineteen years old, standing on the front deck of MAST, looking over the city. One of the proudest days of my life."
Feels good, Major. "It should. You risked life and limb to earn it."
"But it is real good to have you here again. We've been going through the Terrormorph data and... well, we're going to need all the help we can get. These logs, they're even more thorough than I remembered. Genetic work-ups, population statistics, hell, even their food chain. I'd completely forgotten, for example, that there was a creature that actually ate Terrormorphs. At this point, the data's given us more options to explore than we have people to work on them."
What the heck kind of monster eats Terrormorphs? "Well, ate. They went extinct a few decades back. A big lumbering thing called an Aceles. Something I'd love to learn more about... if we had the people to look into it."
Well, then you're going to love this: your research team's on its way here!
I can help with that. I found your research team.
"Ha! That'd be something, wouldn't-- I'm sorry, are you... you're serious? You found. Our research team. That's... incredible. That accelerates... everything. With them back, it'll let us... Wait. Kaiser. Did you find Kaiser?"
What is it that's so special about this Kaiser? "Kaiser's one of a kind. Special-built for the sort of work we did - dealing with unfriendly beasts in hostile environments. No other robot in the galaxy like him. So did you really manage to track him down?"
Consider him as good as collected. "So you know where he is. That's amazing."
He's my next stop. But I was told I'd need your help overcoming his security protocols. "That's... that's right. You would need that. Whoever gave you these leads sure knew their stuff."
"How... how exactly did you manage to find them?"
Actually, they were found by your father... François Sanon. He's alive, imprisoned by the UC. "That's not funny. Seriously, how'd you find them?"
I had some help, but we need to leave it at that. "You can't be... ... oh. You are serious. Okay. No more questions. But still..."
I'm just talented. "Miracle worker is more like it."
"Getting Kaiser back, that gives us more than a few new paths forward on dealing with the Terrormorphs. But if he's been out there on his own all this time, you're going to need something. Come on."

-
After retrieving the schematics of Kaiser:
-

"Here. Kaiser's schematics. Actuators, weapons, batteries. That old robot's been MIA for a while, so chances are he's going to need some repairs. He's also got a lock on his voice controls. You can give yourself authorization with the phrase: "Nos Belli Machinis". Now, where exactly is the old machine?"

Wait, are you suggesting I make these repairs? Myself? "It's really not that daunting. So long as he's on a planet with some modicum of civilization, you should be able to cobble together most of what he might need... ... he is on a planet like that, right?"
"Ground zero for Xenoweapons deployments" was how it was described to me. "Oh my god. A-are you talking about Niira? No wonder no one's found him."
Freestar Territory. Wandering a battlefield on a world called Niira. "A battlefield? On Niira?"
"Sheesh. No wonder no one's found him. That sector of Niira was destination number one for Xenoweapons during the war. Add to that general environmental devastation and the kind of lawlessness that comes with any Freestar world and that planet's got more than enough ways to make a visit your last. But... I think there's a place where you can start your search. Hmm. Yup. "1-Of-A-Kind Salvage." Licensed to an "Angelo Alonso." Goes by "Gel." As good a place to start as any."
What else can you tell me about Niira? "The Colony War saw a lot of hard fighting, but Niira, got it the worst. Everything the Freestar Collective and UC could muster - ground troops, Xenoweapons, mechs - was hurled into the fray. Both sides hoped something would decisively turn the tide. But it never did. When the war finally ended, swathes of that world were so devastated, they were effectively abandoned. So what Kaiser's doing there of all places... I can only guess at."
Why's Kaiser so valuable to stopping the Terrormorphs? "Kaiser lets us do fieldwork with a level of precision that there's really no other way to accomplish. More than a few of the options we're looking into: detectors to uncover the Terrormorph transmission method, or crafting a targeted biological agent... They require highly specific materials to test against. Asking a group of Marines to accompany us for that kind work, well, it usually ended up with ruined samples... and wounded teammates."
Hadrian. I have to tell you something. Your father... he's alive. He's being kept imprisoned by the UC. "So you keep mentioning. And it's not getting funnier."
All right. I'm off to Niira. "And I'll make sure we're ready to put him to use as soon as you've got him."
Show: Hostile Intelligence

"So the problem we're up against... it's vast. Terrormorphs, they can be anywhere. Meaning us finding and disposing of them ourselves isn't an option. But what if we could let something else do the work for us? Come on. I'll walk you through what we're thinking."
"You remember that creature we talked about before you went to Niira? The thing that eats Terrormorphs? The Aceles?"

Wait, there's a thing that eats Terrormorphs? "Take that as a "no" then. Yes, there are. Apparently the Aceles were bloodhounds for Terrormorphs."
Doesn't ring a bell. "Well, just know that they were a natural predator of the Terrormorphs. Bloodhounds for them, allegedly."
I remember, sure. "Apparently, they were bloodhounds for Terrormorphs."
"One Aceles could track a Morph halfway across a continent. But when the UC ran low on synthetic foods during the Colony War, the Aceles were chosen to fill in the gaps. We thought they were harvested to extinction. But in the data, the research team found the location of a few remaining specimens. As you can see. What we're proposing is bringing them back. We'd breed populations of them, distribute them to human worlds, and then, let nature take its course. Using a method that thousands of years of adaptation have already perfected. We could speed up their breeding process using, well, using some of the same technologies that were used to create me. We even think that, with some time and investigation, we could even use the Aceles' hunting skills to track down the Terrormorph transmission method at long last. Find out how humanity spread them and put an end to the Terrormorph problem definitively."
Could Aceles really clean up whole worlds like you're describing? "All our data suggests so. Aceles, they're impressive hunters. The few tests we've been able to run, well, they more than got the job done. They're also shockingly adaptable. The data suggests they're able to thrive just about anywhere. And we plan to selectively breed them so they can hunt Terrormorphs wherever they're hiding. Which is important because, we did some cross-referencing in the Terrormorph data: on worlds where Aceles were present, Terrormorphs weren't. Suggests that however it is Terrormorphs are getting onto our worlds, Aceles are somehow cleaning that up, as well. These creatures are good at what they do."
Are these Aceles things dangerous? "If you pick a fight with one or you're a Terrormorph, sure. But Aceles were already spread across the galaxy once before during the Colony War. As livestock. They're far less of a danger than the one we're proposing cleaning up."
Not sure I like the idea of introducing random aliens to human worlds across the galaxy. "Well, there is another option. It'd be faster, maybe even more effective... but it's got its own risks. A microbe."
Using aliens to our own ends. Sounds like the Xenowarfare team all over again. "I... I suppose that's a fair comparison. Except that this time we'd be protecting human lives, not ending them."
Huh. That sounds like it could actually work. "I really think it could."
"Now, there is another option for removing the Terrormorphs from our worlds. It's faster, maybe even more efficient... but riskier. A microbe. Something we could aerosolize, let spread, and have it clean up anything with Terrormorph DNA for us, which would include Morphs and, we expect, their transmission method. We could even design it to simply sterilize the Terrormorphs. Halt the spread without the killing. Given the proper dispersal tools, a few pilots could land on a world and clear the whole thing. It'd still take time to build, test, and distribute, but no other method could hold a candle to it when it comes to sheer efficency. Not even the Aceles."
And who exactly is going to be doing all this work, dispersing the microbe or the Aceles? "That's still not 100%... but it sounds like the Vanguard will actually be picking up a fair bit of it. But there's no sense in hammering down those sorts of details before we've made a decision on which route we're taking."
What kind of risks are there with this microbe? "Percival assures me that they're minimal. He'll be able to encode safeguards against mutation in the agent's genetics, so that they stick to the task of cleaning up Terrormorphs. But the microscopic world has a tendency to behave in ways you can't always predict. So to say there's zero-risk would be a lie."
If it were up to me, I'd deploy the microbe. Anything less could mean lives lost. "It would be the more efficient option."
That sounds like you're playing with fire. I vote for the Aceles. "Inclined that way myself."
Then let's discuss how we make these plans a reality. "Well, so, that's tricky."
"With either path, though, we're looking at a long-term commitment. Years of work. Even just getting these plans off the ground is going to take time. And all routes are going to require some highly specific materials to make things work. Terrormorph cell lines we can breed quickly and consistently to test on. Aceles gene samples we can use to rebuild their bloodlines... Or sharpen our microbe's tracking skills. Not the sort of things any lab's just got lying around. But we think we found a lead. One place in the known galaxy where we know we should be able to find all the materials we need. All paths lead to Londinion."
Londinion had an Aceles population? "It was the central hub for Aceles processing during the Colony War. But - and this part's exciting - the Terrormorph data suggests Aceles were first found there. The planet it's on - Toliman II - was their homeworld. Meaning there's a very good chance their prey - the Terrormorphs - came from that same world. Which would also explain why no one ever suspected that planet as the Terrormorph source world. The Aceles were too damn effective at cleaning them up. Additionally, it explains why, once the Aceles were gone, the outbreak there was so catastrophic. Londinion could very well be where the Terrormorph saga began... and the key to its end."
Are we even allowed on Londinion? "It's certainly not encouraged, but the UC's given their sign-off for this excursion. This trip is all above board."
The planet overrun by Terrormorphs? Isn't that suicide? "It's dangerous, yes, but Kaiser, Percival and I, we've trained for this. And you're not so green yourself. And the last thing I want right now is for the UC to stick us with some gung-ho jarhead who's going to put us - and the mission - at risk. Captain, you're the reason we're all here right now. You're the person I think can help us finish it. Will you join us on this?"
Listen, I need some time. "Of course. It's a big ask. You do what you have to. We're not going anywhere without you."
If this is what it's going to take. "I think this, this is the answer we've been looking for."
Then let's not waste anymore time. Londinion, here we come. "Exactly what I was hoping to hear."
"Now, the UC has a small operating base on Londinion's outskirts. We're cleared for access, but will need to check in with the base commander - Saira Hatoum - when we touch down. I'm going to help Percival and Kaiser prep, but once that's done, we'll rendezvous with you there. But you need to know. Londinion... it belongs to the Terrormorphs. They'll have anti-xeno gear for us at the base, but I'd make sure you've got your favorite arms on hand."

-
If approached again:
-

"You have my attention."

I wanted to talk to you about your father. He's alive... and the UC has him under house arrest. "So you keep mentioning. And it's not getting funnier."
Hadrian, do you really think this is going to work? "Neither option is without risk, but I honestly believe both could be viable. It's going to take coordination - inside the UC and out - but I think it can be done."
Tell me everything you know about Londinion. "Since the outbreak, Londinion's belonged to the Terrormorphs. The UC maintains a presence there - keeps an eye on things, scares off any trespassers. And there are still a couple species that have been able to survive alongside the Morphs, but otherwise, they've got free reign. The city itself grew fast, but it was short-lived. Place was only founded during the Colony War to keep up with all the UC's increased industrial needs. A war-time boomtown, wiped off the map before it could really even put down roots."
So we really have no idea how humanity spread Terrormorphs across the galaxy? "We don't. UC brass wanted us focusing on weaponizing the adults, not where those adults came from. But there have been plenty of theories... That they release microscopic eggs that are drawn to the heat of ships. That their nymphs are capable of a next-level sort of camouflage. Hell, one PhD candidate suggested their long gestation was them storing up to make grav jumps. All by themselves. And while I'd love to believe that's impossible, we've got definitive evidence for exactly none of it, so we can't completely rule it out. Luckily, both microbe or Aceles should be able to help us get a handle on the issue. So unless we find that transmission method and deal with it, too, there's no way for us to know if we've done the job right or not. And that starts on Londinion."

-
After speaking to Commander Hatoum:
-

"Percival'll be scanning the city for our samples from here. When he finds one, he'll transmit the coordinates to us out in the field."

You can pinpoint the location of these samples all the way from here?
(Percival:) "Pinpoint's a bit strong..."
"The equipment will be able to get us a rough location of any acceptable samples in the scan area. It'll be up to you, Kaiser, and I to find the things."
I'm with Percival. Let's get this over with fast. "No argument here."
Ready when you are. "All right."
"Head over to the armory and gear up. Once you're done, we'll meet by the entrance to the city."

-
After collecting the gear:
-

"All set on your gear? You, uh, you ready to do this?"

Wait. Are you nervous? "Just... pre-mission jitters. You hear about a place for so long, it maybe gets... bigger in your head than it should be. But, you don't need to worry about me. I-I'll be all right. Now are we doing this or not?"
Actually, I need some more time. "We're ready when you are."
[Soldier] Got the best team in the galaxy at my side. Couldn't be more ready. "That's-that's damn right we are. Come on. Let's get out there."
I'm ready. "All right, then. Let's-let's move out."

-
At the Lazarus plant in the steam tunnels:
-

"What's that? My god. Look at it. A Lazarus in bloom. You know, we might be some of the only-- --what's-what's happening? Captain. Are you seeing this? Oh my god. The Heatleeches. Are Terrormorphs. But Heatleeches infest every settlement, every corner of the Settled Systems. That means that every single one... Oh no."
"You just saw that, right? You would tell me if I was losing my mind. That Heatleech... became a Terrormorph. The pests that have snuck onto every planet... are baby Terrormorphs. Heatleeches hide out in ships. Sneak away after landing. And then, with time, they transform. We-we just found out how Terrormorphs move between planets."

What does this mean for the plans to clean up the Terrormorphs? "That... I don't have an answer for right now. But if they share a genome, like most nymphs and adults do, the microbe should have no problem dealing with Heatleeches and Terrormorphs. The Aceles... we'll have to look into, but given what we know about the creatures, I wouldn't be shocked to find they've got an appetite for both."
What we just witnessed - that can't be how all Terrormorphs are born, right? "No. Lazarus Plants can't grow anywhere but here, let alone blossom. People have tried. Plus if what we just witnessed was happening anywhere else... well, it wouldn't just be Londinion lost to these things. What we just saw... it must be some kind of alternate growth method. One that winnows seventy years of maturation into seconds. It's... incredible."
Nothing natural should be able to do that! "I think what we just observed would suggest otherwise."
This feels like a pretty major discovery. "Pretty major is right. But if what we just saw... if that's possible..."
"The Lazarus Plant, it's clearly an accelerant for the Terrormorph, uh, Heatleech transformation process. Make one into the other. In an instant. But that means, if anyone knew about this... they could... trigger a Terrormorph spawning. You could sneak a Leech into a city... or even... multiple Leeches... into a place like New Atlantis... Good god. The attack on New Atlantis? Does this... could someone have... set that up?"
I don't know what to think right now.
I can't imagine what'd it take to pull something like that off... "Me neither. You'd have to know this all exists, first and foremost..."
Given what we just witnessed... it's certainly plausible. "But first you'd have to know the truth about all this..."
(Percival:) "Well, we're never going to know if you don't catch that thing! Get after it!"
(Kaiser:) "We may proceed."
(Percival:) "Go!"

-
After defeating the Terrormorph:
-

"There's no way a plant this rare, this fragile just shows up here, New Atlantis AND Tau Ceti. The transformations on those worlds... they must've been triggered by human hands."
"Captain, do you understand what it is we just stumbled on here?"

I want to hear it from you. "I think someone figured out how to use the Lazarus Plant to trigger Terrormorph attacks."
That someone thought they could get away with attacking the UC. "Exactly. Someone saw the Lazarus Plant and realized the ends it could be put to."
I think it means the Lazarus Plant was used to trigger the attack in New Atlantis. "Exactly. Someone saw the Lazarus Plant in action and used it to trigger the attacks."
"It makes some sense, actually. Tau Ceti was likely their first test. Some place remote, where no one would question a few settlers going missing. Ensure the big show - the attack on New Atlantis - would be a success. And the timing of that one... It couldn't have been just luck that it happened right when we were asking the Cabinet to do something about the Terrormorphs. These attacks... I think someone planned them to set all this in motion."
But didn't you say this plant can't grow anywhere but here? "It can't... at least... I didn't think it could. But maybe... if we're right about this... someone found a way."
You sound like a complete crackpot right now. "Oh, I am well aware. In particular because it leaves some big questions unanswered..."
I guess it might be possible. "A plant this rare showing up unbidden on two different UC planets? I think it's more than just "possible" that human hands were involved here. But it doesn't answer any of the big questions..."
I thought the timings of those Terrormorphs showing up was suspicious. "They certainly were. But having this answer, well, it raises a couple big questions."
"Who could pull something like this off? And why?"
I honestly have no idea.
Maybe some independent group like Ecliptic. They're always looking for firepower.
It was House Va'ruun. Trust me. Those guys are the worst.
Commander Hatoum or one of her soldiers. They're the most likely to know about this.
I've got some ideas, but it's far from responsible to just start hurling accusations.
Freestar Collective makes the most sense. They'd be happy to see the UC suffer.
The United Colonies! Someone inside the UC must have plans for the Lazarus Plant!
(Percival:) "Let's save the discussion for when you all aren't standing in the universe's closest equivalent to hell frozen over. If we're going to do anything to prevent more Terrormorph attacks - human-caused or otherwise - we need that final sample."
"...roger that. Kaiser. Get us into the spaceport?"
(Kaiser:) "The entrance is this way."

-
After listening to the Londinion Transcription:
-

""An invisible weapon." He knew. He knew about the Lazarus Plant. Grab that recording. We-we should talk."
"Vae Victis... he destroyed this place... killed these people, to keep what he knew about the Lazarus Plant and the Terrormorphs and all this a secret, didn't he?"

Never learned this "reading minds" trick you seem to have mastered. "The recording said it all..."
There were plenty of reasons he could've ordered the bombing. The Terrormorph outbreak, for example. "You heard that recording."
That's certainly how I interpreted it.
"He saw the potential of the plant as a weapon... and hid it away. He killed those people... condemned this city... to keep them from sharing what they might've seen. He was a... was..."
Someone who thought keeping the secret would save lives. "A calculated loss... these soldiers for the rest of the galaxy... that sounds exactly like what my father would do. But it doesn't... it can't justify slaughter."
A commander in a tough situation. "Who decided to sentence his own soldiers to death. What kind of commander is that?"
A cold-blooded murderer. "Yes. Exactly what we all thought he was."
"But I guess, I guess that's just another part of his sick legacy now. He thought he was protecting us all, taking the secret to his grave. Only he didn't succeed. Now someone else knows about the Lazarus Plant... and is using it exactly how he feared."
Hadrian... your father, he's still alive. The UC have been keeping him prisoner. "Look, it's still not funny."
Listen, we should get moving. We've got work to do. "Right. Settled Systems are counting on us."
[Lie] You're right. He's long gone and it's up to us to get to the bottom of this. "That's exactly right. Let's move. The Settled Systems are counting on us."

-
After the debriefing with Percival:
-

"But it's clear someone knows about the plant and realized what ends it could be put towards. Captain, we need to get these samples back to the lab and verify we'll be able to handle cleaning up the Leeches as well as the Terrormorphs. But in the interim, do you think you could look into what we uncovered? See if you can turn up any information on who might've committed the attacks?"

"If it were me, I'd start at the scene of the crime: New Atlantis."
I can't make any promises. "I wouldn't expect any. But who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky and turn up some leads."
Oh, I've already got some ideas who could've been involved. "Perfect."
Sure. I'll look into it. "Thank you, Captain."
"Once you've finished your investigation, we'll meet you outside the Cabinet Chambers. They're going to want to hear this. And Kaiser, maybe you can go relock those doors we opened, just as a precaution. We'll collect you once we're done."
(Kaiser:) "Consider it done, Major."
"Take care of yourself. No telling who might be involved."
Show: A Legacy Forged

"Perfect timing. We just got in. So, on our end, good news: the microbe and the Aceles are both as effective against Heatleeches as they are against Terrormorphs."
(Percival:) "Means either plan should work for clearing those critters off our worlds."
"Considering what the Lazarus Plant is capable of, I don't think we can't deal with those things fast enough. I already sent along info to the Cabinet to get them up to speed. So, what about your end? Did you find anything? Any leads on who might've committed the attacks?"

Actually, I'm still gathering some intel. Let me get back to you. "Ah. Do what you have to. We'll be here."
It WAS Vae Victis. I managed to get him to confess. "
[Lie] It was a man named Dr. Reginald Orlase. He perpetrated the attacks.

-
If told Orlase perpetrated the attacks:
-

"That's some impressive work. So then, give us the rundown. Where's Orlase now? Were you able to bring him in?"

[Lie] Orlase is dead. Things went... badly. Still shaken up. Rather not talk about it. "Oh. Captain, I'm-I'm sorry. I won't pry any further."
Guy tried to kill me! Last mistake he ever made. "Hmm. I see. Would've been good to be able to question him, but... I've been in those situations. I'm sorry you had to go through it."
Was on a mission to bring him in and... I killed him. Didn't realize what he'd done at the time. "Hmm. I see. Wished we could've questioned him, but... well, there's nothing we can do at this point."
I tried, but he took his own life instead of coming peacefully. "I'm... sorry to hear that. Those sorts of missions are always tough."
"Any idea why he might've done it? Or what he was doing with the plant?"
[Lie] He thought he was doing the right thing, making sure no one could ignore the Lazarus Plant. "Another madman justifying butchery."
(Percival:) "Ah ha. That makes sense. Plenty of abandoned tech for an old warmonger to pilfer there. Instead, he stumbles on the plant and finds the perfect way at getting back at the UC for trying to put him on trial."
"Decides to use the plant against the people that destroyed his old life. I can see that."
[Lie] He found the plant while searching Londinion for weapon data and chose to use it against the UC. "Sure, but there are plenty of ways to do it. Why the Lazarus Plant?"
Not sure. I never found a confession. "I can't imagine the amount of work it took to deploy the Lazarus Plant off-world. Strange to go to all that trouble and not state your reasons."
(Percival:) "The man knew how to hold a grudge. I wouldn't be shocked if this was him getting back at the UC for trying to put him on trial."
"Hmm. I guess."
"Well, at least he won't be able to hurt anybody else now. Might be the best we could ask for, given the circumstances. So... I guess there's nothing else to do but get this all in front of the Cabinet. Unless there were other things we needed to discuss? This might be our last opportunity to talk things through before the Cabinet weighs in on a decision regarding the Terrormorphs."
What kind of risks are there if we decide to bring back the Aceles? "Aceles aren't hostile to humans, but they are mega-fauna. If someone decides to pick a fight with one, it could get ugly. But they've already been spread far and wide once before when the UC was raising them as livestock, so the risk of introducing them to new worlds is minimal. Using them to clean up the Terrormorphs and Leeches, though, it's not going to be nearly as expedient as the microbe would be. Given what we know now about the Lazarus Plant, the speed of the job does matter, but going with the Aceles, we're at least dealing with known risks."
So both approaches to clearing our worlds are effective against Heatleeches? "They are."
(Percival:) "Microbe needed minimal adjustment to account for Heatleech anatomy."
"And the Aceles seem like they're even better at tracking Leeches than Morphs."
(Percival:) "Hell of a sight to watch, though, when they catch them. Like an open airlock guzzling angry spaghetti."
Which method of dealing with the Terrormorphs are you two leaning towards?
(Percival:) "Microbe is going to make the clean-up a whole lot quicker. If we're concerned about this Lazarus Plant getting deployed again, that's the way to go."
"The Cabinet can secure the Lazarus Plant. And then we're not risking any... surprises when it comes to dealing with a microbe."
(Percival:) "You're being paranoid. You know the science. You know we can make this safe."
"I do know the science. I also know math. And a one in a million chance of a mutation isn't zero. So, I guess we're still in discussion. Probably best at this point to let the Cabinet weigh-in, see if they have a preference."
Nothing else on my end. Let's head in there. "Then here we go."

"I can't believe you knew about my father all this time... and lied to me. I thought we were... well, I thought we at least respected one another more than that."

Don't act like this was anything more than a professional relationship. "Clearly I misunderstood. Good bye, Captain."
I was just doing what the UC asked. You of all people should understand that. "Oh, so you just follow whatever order they give and-- ... you... you were just following orders... weren't you? I-I certainly do know what kind of a burden that can be."
Hadrian, I'm so sorry. They swore me to secrecy. I would've told you otherwise. "You swore! ... you-you swore. You were just... doing your duty... after all. I know what a burden... what a burden that can be."
"Look I... I guess I'm not thrilled that you kept it from me for this long... but suppose I can see past one moment of monumental bone-headedness. This time."
So we can be friends again? "I think so, yeah."
And let's not forget the times I saved your bacon. "And so humble, too. But... you do have a point."
That means a lot to me, Hadrian. Thank you. "Of course."
"This is just... hard to find out all at once. You know my heart stopped when you first said it. That he was still alive. That I might have to see him again. I mean, I had to, right? It could be my last chance. And then I realized: all confronting him now would prove is that he still has some sway over my life. And I know I can never escape the Sanon legacy. His... and mine. But I'm not about to let my past sully a future that's... well, that's brighter than it has been in a long time. And that's thanks to you. But, we've both got our assignments. I guess I should get a move on. Good luck out there, Captain."
Why don't you come with me? "You know I can't do that. There's too much to be done with the TMD. And I'm not about to let Percival have all the fun. But I do appreciate the sentiment."
Hopefully we cross paths again soon. "I'd like that. Take care."
Take care of yourself, Hadrian. "You do the same."

Percival: "Is-is that really her? Hadrian."
Hadrian: "Percival. My god. Look at you. You're an old man now."
Percival: "Heh. No hatchling yourself anymore, Major. Our friend here showed me your sample. Suffice it to say--"
Hadrian: "Not here. Let's talk somewhere more private. Lou said we could use the back."

In the storeroom:

Hadrian: "So, were you two able to get that work-up together?"
Percival: "Got it right here. That sample... it's an exact match for the ones from Londinion."
Hadrian: "Londinion? That's-that's exactly what I was afraid of."
Percival: "Not thrilled to be the bearer of that kind of news, that's for damn sure. So tell me you've got some kind of plan for that work-up."
Hadrian: "Well, right now, we've got more questions than answers, so I've been trying to figure out what it's going to take to access our old Terrormorph data."
Percival: "Good place to start. What'd you find?"
Hadrian: "It's in the Archives."
Percival: "The Armistice Archives? Doesn't that mean we'd be dealing with the Cabinet? And the Freestar Collective? And House Va'ruun somehow? Guess we can kiss that approach good-bye."
Hadrian: "I didn't think the Cabinet would be willing to hear us out either, but, I called in some favors. They've agreed to hear us out on two conditions: One, they want to see this analysis you two have procured. And two, they want to discuss what happened on Tau Ceti..."

Percival: "Oh you're a riot, robot."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Kaiser, kick it off."
Kaiser: "Unlock code transmitted. You may open the gate when ready."

-
When entering the city:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "All right. On our way into the city. Percival, where are we heading?"
Percival: "Running the first sweep. Got one. Aceles. Not far. Old shipping yard just past the processing plant. Gene samples are probably in one of the containers."

-
After clearing the mind-controlled fauna:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "Looks like the last of 'em. No sign of the Morph, though."
Percival: "Your shipping yard's just beyond the processing plant. Cache with some goodies is towards the rear of the facility."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Kaiser, we close enough for you to dial in the location of those samples from here?"
Kaiser: "... yes. They're faint but I'm detecting multiple valid signatures. I have restored power to the containers."
Percival: "Jackpot. Get down there and collect as many as you can."

-
After obtaining the samples:
-

Percival: "Nice work. Now, earlier scan picked up a valid Terrormorph sample, but, well, it's in the spaceport. And the quick route there looks like it got blasted when the port did."
Kaiser: "There are steam tunnels under the city which will allow us to access the spaceport."
Percival: "What're you... that-that's right. Kaiser, how did you know that?"
Kaiser: "I... am not sure."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Percival, you see any better option?"
Percival: "Not from where I'm standing."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Then we've got our answer."
Kaiser: "Access unlocked. We may proceed."

-
In the steam tunnels:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "Kaiser. This flora. This is Lazarus Plant, isn't it?"
Kaiser: "Confirmed."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "A perfect specimen for a world like this. Capable of hibernating for generations at a stretch. No one even realized it was a living thing until someone got it under a microscope and saw it had cells. Can't be cultivated anywhere but Londinion. A real marvel."

-
After defeating the terrormorph:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "All right. Let's get to the bottom of this. Percival, Kaiser's got the cell data from the New Atlantis and Tau Ceti attacks, right?"
Percival: "Uploaded them myself."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Captain, let Kaiser take a look at that sample."
Kaiser: "Beginning analysis... It is a match. This suggests with high certainty that the Lazarus Plant was used to trigger the attacks on both planets."

-
At the gate to the spaceport:
-

Kaiser: "I am unable to provide sufficient power to the lock mechanism."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Anyone got ideas where we could get some extra juice?"
Percival: "Local power looks like it was controlled in the Security Office. Upper floor."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "Captain and I can scout it out. Kaiser, see if you can't find another way to get it open."
Kaiser: "Roger that. I have restored power to the office entrance. You may proceed."

-
After restoring power:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "Kaiser! Try it now!"
Kaiser: "Unlock successful."
Percival: "Guys... your sample. It... moved. I'd be real careful out there if I were you."
Major Hadrian Sanon: "That... doesn't sound good. Eyes peeled."

-
After securing the final sample:
-

Major Hadrian Sanon: "All wrapped up. Time to get the hell out of here. Percival, you should unplug and find somewhere we can talk. Privately."
Percival: "On it. See you soon."

Show: Gunt Work
  • "Either I got hit harder than I thought... or you've got some incredible timing."
  • "Get up here. Second floor. Main building. One with the "Tau" sign on it. But be quiet. It's still out there."
  • "Connection restored. I'll make this quick... Hmm. Plant's turrets took a beating... but I should be able to get you a couple of kill lanes. Just get the thing to chase you down the alleys between the buildings and you'll lead it right into a crossfire. Hello... wish I'd found this earlier. Those sensors around the facility? Part of a livestock tracking system. Should let you keep tabs on how close the Terrormorph is. Hmm. But it's not connected to this network. Should be a terminal in the adjoining room. Tune it to... 183.5." - After resetting the security system
  • "Tracker's reading green and... what's that sound... Shit. Stop. Stop whatever you're doing and get in cover. It's on the move." - After turning on the tracking system
  • "Look, I wouldn't engage directly if you can avoid it. The kill lanes, they're set up but need power. There's breakers on each of the buildings you can throw to get them live. Once they're online, lead the Terrormorph towards the lights and watch the fireworks. Give it hell, Vanguard."
  • "Hmm. Older model. Let's see what you can do... running basic diagnostics... nothing... maybe a flag scan... no. Spectrograph... damn." - While analyzing the Terrormorph sample
Show: Eyewitness
  • "My god. No time to waste, Captain! Stash the EM and pull some firepower. Let's move!"
Show: Friends Like These
  • "I'm going to go check in with Chief Engineer Kulkarni. Start getting a plan together for that data."
Show: War Relics
  • "We've already made a lot of progress getting this place back online. Some of the containment chambers were a bit on the, uh, unpleasant side, but the facilities staff made short work of that."
  • "I know it's here somewhere. Ah ha."
Show: Hostile Intelligence
  • "What-- that creature... it's dominated. Must be a Morph nearby keeping under its sway. Let's put it down!"
  • "More of them! Clean 'em up!"
  • "All these leeches. What's keeping you things warm?"
  • "There's the control panel. Still looks operable. Of all the things to survive..."
  • "What the hell-- is that the sample?! My god! Concentrate fire! Shoot! Shoot!"
  • "Good. Now just stash that sample with Kaiser and we're done."
