Jarek Va'ruun is the Speaker of the Great Serpent, head of House Va'ruun.
Following the death of Jinan Va'ruun in 2263, Jarek Va'ruun succeeded him as Speaker of House Va'ruun.
As a result of started by his father's Serpent's Crusade, House Va'ruun was at war with all Settled Systems. Although the coordinates of the Kavnyk home world were never revealed to the UC and FC. The House Va'ruun fleet was unable to win in direct combat, resorting to guerrilla tactics and raiding and massacring undefended small colonies, orbital stations, and individual ships. However, they still suffered casualties, and as an enemy, they were unable to directly purchase the goods they needed, resorting to smuggling and piracy.
As the leader of House Va'ruun, Jarek Va'ruun ended the Serpent's Crusade and began peace negotiations. However, he continued the policy of isolation. Not everyone supported his decision, his brother Jandar, who at the time held the position of head of the noble House Ma'leen, openly spoke out against his brother's policies in 2270, accusing him of treason. In 2274, House Ma'leen broke ties with House Va'ruun and its members left the Va'ruun'kai, becoming the core of the Va'ruun Zealots. Only three Houses remained on the Council: Veth'aal, Ka'dic and Dul'kehf. Open support for the Zealots was considered heresy and was severely punished, but there were still members of House Va'ruun who sympathized with them.
Jarek Va'ruun died in 2298 and his place was succeeded by his son Anasko Va'ruun.
