Starfield Wiki

Lieutenant Messina is the logistic supervisor at UC research starstation SY-920.

Background[]

Lieutenant Messina got an education to be an engeneer and joined the UC Navy either during or shortly after her graduation. She must have impressed her higher-ups with her skills, as she was selected to work at starstation SY-920, where only the best are accepted. She was even able to raise to the rank of lieutenant and became the logistic supervisor, which means that she worked directly under the current commander of the station.

Messina seems to be a very structured and tidy individual. She always kept her workplace and documents in order. However, she was not easy to work with, since she did not like working with others very much. She prefered tabels and numbers over human company, since they are more easily understood and don't show disrespect. Messina even believes the staff has more respect for the coffee machine than for her. Her attitude made her look impolite or even hostile towards her subordinates.

Under commander Woods, things went quiet bad for the starstation, because Woods was corrupt and lazy. Lieuteanant Messina was among the crew members who highly appreciated his replacement with the strict commander Natara. She seems to get along well with her new superior and tries to support her by giving her information about potential smugglers and warns her about people leaking classified information. She suspected at least four cargo haulers who supply the station to be smugglers and probably being the reason for the information leak. It should be noted that the true culprit, Huan Daiyu, even was among her suspects.

When commander Natara dismissed lieutenant Messina's warnings because she did not have enough evidence, Messina was not upset. She even admitted that the evidence was too thin to take action now. Especially since commander Natara was new on this post and some crew members were still supporters of former commander Woods.

Interactions[]

The Best There Is[]

Lieutenant Messina can be found aboard SY-920, but interacting with her is not necessary for the mission.

Dialogue[]

Show: The Best There Is

"Make it quick, Ensign. I'm busy with half a dozen spreadsheets that I'm pretty sure outrank you. And you know how the Commander feels about breaking the chain of command. She hates it."

I'm a person. Can a spreadsheet really outrank me? "Are you kidding? Being a person puts you exactly at the bottom of the totem pole. Look at me. I'm an engineer, graduated top of my class, and I'm pretty sure the coffee machine gets more respect. At least the spreadsheet actually does some heavy lifting."
Busy with what? "I'm sorry Ensign, but I don't think you have the clearance for that information. Especially when the problem concerns a leak."
Sorry to bother you. "Well, you're a polite one. If only my spreadsheets were so obedient. If you're looking for a clearance code, you'll find it on the computer in the security room."
I need access past the security checkpoint.
"Well, you've got a uniform... Ensign Ngata, is it?"
"Well, you've got a uniform... Ensign Ziremi, is it?"
"Well, you've got a uniform... Ensign Akasaka?"
"Just use the computer in the security office, and look up the code based on your last name. Now if you'll excuse me, there's some spreadsheets that need my attention."

Conversations[]

ComSpike Tests[]

Natara: "How are the tests for the ComSpike going?"
Messina: "Dr. Vogel has put in a request for more personnel. It seems there was an accident."
Natara: "Ugh, it's always something with that doctor."
Lieutenant Messina: "Not to change the subject, but are we concerned about the potential leaks?"
Natara: "No. Until you can provide more substantial proof, we'll simply monitor the situation at the Cargo Bay. For now, I've directed Dr. Vogel to contact me immediately if he identifies any suspicious behavior."
