Narion is a star system in the Settled Systems with seven planets and eight moons. It is controlled by the Freestar Collective.

History[]

Narion was first colonized sometime in the 22nd century. When the United Colonies placed The Clinic star station, a medical facility, over the planet Deepala in 2195, the residents perceived this as a step toward the UC annexing the system, and protested The Clinic's presence by voting to join the Freestar Collective. The dispute over control of Narion escalated into the Narion War in 2196. The conflict ended in 2216 with the signing of the Treaty of Narion. The UC recognized Narion as a member of the Freestar Collective and relinquished control of The Clinic.[1]

Almost a century later, the planet Niira, Narion's primary habitable world, suffered extensive environmental damage during the course of the Colony War. The Battle of Niira began with the UC Navy landing an occupation force on the world to use it as a forward operating base. The Freestar Militia responded by launching a series of counterattacks to push the UC troops off Niira. Each of these attacks was rebuffed, but in the process more and more of Niira's surface was reduced to cinders. By the time the war ended, little of Niira remained pristine and it was mostly abandoned. Freestar citizens regard the Battle of Niira as a tragic loss and resent the UC for turning it into a barren wasteland.

As of 2330, the main attraction in Narion is The Clinic, which still orbits Deepala and has forged a reputation for medical excellence. The Clinic is important enough that its administrator, Dr. Lara Darvish, holds a seat on the Freestar Collective's Council of Governors. Ship manufacturer Stroud-Eklund also operates the Stroud-Eklund Staryard in the system.
