Major Paxton Hull commanded the 1st Cavalry Division in the Freestar Militia during the Colony War. In the Battle of Niira, the unit received a ceasefire order on the eve of the signing of a truce, but the major, along with his loyal officers, refused to carry out the order and the 1st Cavalry launched an attack on the UC positions. In a bloody battle, both sides suffered heavy losses, the 1st lost most of their personnel, but they were able to achieve victory. As a result of the war, the planet became uninhabitable, and the troops of both sides were withdrawn. The Mech and Xenowarfare units were disbanded and their technology banned as a result of the Armistice. The surviving members of the 1st Cavalry Division were put on trial for disobeying orders, and Paxton Hull was sentenced to 20 years. After his release, the former major created The First mercenary company, which used the colors and uniforms of the 1st Cavalry. Soon he was contacted by a mysterious wealthy client who offered him a lucrative long-term contract.
