The Red Mile is a facility located on the planet Porrima III in the Porrima system.[1]
Overview[]
The Porrima system is not under the jurisdiction of Freestar Collective or United Colonies. The planet Porrima II is home to a resort run by the Paradiso Group corporation. Red Mile is located on another planet in the same system, Porrima III.
The establishment is run by Mei Devine, the heiress of a wealthy family. From a conversation with her, you can find out that this used to be a meeting place for pirates, smugglers and other criminals, a place of lawlessness. Ordinary people tried to stay away from this planet. Mei saw the potential in Red Mile to turn the site into a tourist attraction. She hired Ecliptic mercenaries and with a heavy hand brought order, making the Red Mile quite respectable and attractive to tourists. The security is led by mercenary captain Stocker. However, here you can still find buyers for goods of dubious origin, as well as equip the ship with modules for transporting contraband or buy ready-made ones.
In the hall you can meet several nameless specialists who can be hired as crew members on the ship.
The main attraction of the Red Mile is the opportunity to take part in a race through the terrain with the dangerous predators Red Mile Mauler. Visitors can watch in the hall the attempts of the contenders to go the distance and place bets on the participants. In the hall you can meet local veteran Donovan Rhys, when you contact him, he will ask you to treat him to a local Runner's Rush cocktail in order to talk. Donovan is a champion who has successfully completed 28 Red Mile races. Now retired, he is in the hall to entertain guests and encourage newcomers to try their hand.
Mei Devine will offer you to take on the challenge and go the distance. If you are completing the On the Run faction mission, this will be a prerequisite for obtaining the necessary information. After successfully completing the first side mission Run the Red Mile, the reward will be a unique Brute Force shotgun. The mission is repeatable, if you complete it 29 times and beat the record, you are rewarded with a unique Desperation rifle and unlocking a wall decoration. Red Mile Mauler are bullet sponge that give out quite a bit of XP when killed and drop very common materials. Even if you speedrun and avoid battles, the rifle is not worth the time and effort.
During the Freestar Rangers mission On the Run, you will find Autumn MacMillian in the hall, along with whom, as part of the quest, you must meet with the informant. She will remain here until the faction's final mission, The Hammer Falls, after which she can be taken onto the ship's crew.
