Detailed Walkthrough[]
Head down to the mines and talk to Trevor. Let him know you managed to approve his request. He will let you know you did good work. As far as the equipment, he already put in an order but he has a problem.
One of his miners (Hank Ferraro) insisted he would go and grab the equipment himself on Gagarin and hasn't come back. Trevor wanted to give Hank a chance to turn his job performance around and thought Hank offering meant he was trying to turn it around. However, the amount of time he has taken is abnormal and concerning - Trevor could use some help investigating this. Since you (the Spacefarer) has proven themselves extremely valuable and resourceful in the past two missions (Red Tape Blues and Red Tape Runaround) - Trevor asks for your help. He even carved out some budget to pay you for all of your assistance so far.
He'll ask you to head to Cydonia Ship Services and see if they can give you a place to start on your search for Hank.
Head out of Cydonia and turn right to find the Ship Services Technician. Speak to him to inquire about Hank's recent movements.
After speaking to Ship Services you'll learn he originally departed Mars but recently came back. However, he didn't land at the spaceport. The ship diverted and landed outside the city "a ways". The technician doesn't have a reasonable explanation for why Hank would divert away from the spaceport, explaining that the main reason ships land away from the city is to smuggle contraband but they normally wouldn't fly over the spaceport first (which Hank did).
Head back to inform Trevor. He immediately gets suspicious of Hank's actions. He'll mention that he spoke to some of Hank's coworkers, and Hank has apparently been acting quite weird lately - cursing up a storm and specifically complaining a lot about work. This leads Trevor to believe Hank has bad intentions. He directs you to the bar first to check and see if Hank is still in Cydonia (as he is apparently "not too bright"). He emphasizes that the equipment is more important than Hank.
- Trevor says you should try to get Hank to admit he stole the equipment first, then see if you can convince him to give it back. If Hank resists/won't disclose the information, Trevor recommends turning him in to Cydonia security - but to try to get the location of the stolen equipment from Hank first - that is most important (in case security can't get that information from him in jail).
- If you need to protect yourself, Trevor says do what you need to do to protect yourself, but he won't officially tell you to do anything to Hank.
- Trevor also isn't sure why Hank would take the equipment - maybe to sell it?
Stop at the Broken Spear. Hank will be sitting at the bar. When you inquire about the mining equipment, Hank offers to buy you a beer (Red Harvest Pale Ale) first. Accepting the beer or not has no impact on the events that transpire during the rest of the mission or the conversation following the beer. During the conversation, Hank will explain some of the reasons he took the equipment and eventually "agree" it is best to return the equipment back to Trevor and the mining operation.
After your conversation, Hank will have you follow him to where he "stashed the mining equipment". It is a long, slow walk to the outskirts of Cydonia. On the walk there he will detail how he decided to take the equipment, boast about his "perfect plan" and attempt some flattery, letting you know he is impressed you sniffed out his plan. He also contemplates how much he could have made if he sold the equipment and considers the logisitical difficulties with selling it. He makes it seem like he is glad you found him before he tried something so foolish, but this is all a front. When you reach his ship the "Watchdog" he will pull a gun on you. You can try to persuade him to reconsider or choose to attack. If you successfully talk him down, he will (optionally) give his gun up to you and you'll have a few options for how to proceed with him. You can either:
- Lie that Crimson Fleet pirates followed Hank to Mars and he fended them off
- Force Hank to turn himself in
If persuasion fails, he will turn aggressive towards you and you will have to kill him.
No matter how you handled the situation with Hank, you will need to head back to Cydonia and let Trevor know. His reaction varies depending on Hank's outcome but he'll be grateful the equipment is saved and give you your reward.
At the conclusion of the quest he will mention that if you still want to help the mining operation out, you can speak with Rivkah. This will trigger the quest Runaway.
