Ship Racing is a random encounter miscellaneous mission in Starfield.

There is a ship icon on the system map. When you meet, a Narcissus-class ship greets you and offers you a race. If your ship is too slow and clumsy, you can refuse. With a boost, even a ship with very mediocre characteristics can win. If you accept the challenge, you need to choose a bet: 1, 2 or 5 thousand credits. After the start, you need to go through 3 checkpoints and come first to the finish line.
