Starship Engineering is an Expert Tech Skill. It is used to increase the player's survivability in Space Combat.

Progression and Strategy[]
It isn't hard to progress Starship Engineering, as long as the player has the parts. To powerlevel this skill, the player could engage low-level enemies and power down their shields to take minor damage for repairs.
Starship Engineering is a survivability skill. When a player starts losing systems (i.e. engines) it's a very bad sign, so being able to restore them quickly can be a tremendous asset for close dogfights. However, in most dogfights, it won't be useful. The player will often die if they are in a situation where they need to repair a ship's systems. In many other situations, enemies will never get through the player's shields. Starship engineering is a strong but situational skill.
