The Terrormorph, also known by its scientific name Occisio machina, is an alien species found throughout the Settled Systems. Terrormorphs are regarded as a significant threat.
Background[]
Native to the planet Toliman II,[1] terrormorphs are the next stage in the development of the heatleech common to the Settled Systems. They are said to be resilient, agile, and smart, with a mental prowess and pheromonics that dominates weaker lifeforms and sometimes humans. Furthermore, the terrormorph becomes more adept with their mental prowess as they age. The sheer power of these creatures made them of interest to the UC Xenowarfare Division, for use in combat roles; they were considered too powerful to be controlled and experimentation was a failure. One specimen in particular was actually able to not only instantly break free from a control chip, rip through what was supposed to be a secured containment cell like paper, and slaughter an entire research laboratory and the UC's squadron who was protecting said laboratory by itself. An event which first highlighted the fearsome power of the species.
Originally kept in check by their native predator, the Aceles, the Colony War decimated the numbers of the Aceles on the planet to provide sustenance for the peoples of the United Colonies (UC).[1] In combination with this decimation and the presence of the lazarus plant, a native plant which expedites the metamorphosis from heat leech to terrormorph, heatleeches and in turn terrormorphs were able to thrive unchecked, resulting in the destruction of Londinion; a UC colony on the planet. Furthermore, due to interstellar travel from the planet, terrormorphs were also an occurrence across the Settled Systems; although their appearances were shrouded in mystery until 2330 when the connection between heatleeches and terrormorphs was finally established publicly.
From the digital artbook: “Heatleech / Terrormorph Life Cycle. Attaches itself to the heat source using its claws and flap to create a vacuum seal. When the leech attaches itself to a human heat source, death occurs from asphyxiation and rapid extreme hypothermia as the leech drains the body of heat.”
