UC Security (UC Sec) is a department of the United Colonies. It is tasked with police and peacekeeping duties in all settlements of the United Colonies. These being Gagarin Landing, Cydonia, New Homestead, The Den and New Atlantis. UC security also was responsible for a remote maximum security prison called The Lock.
Overview[]
UC Security is the main civil law enforcement organization in the United Colonies. Their task is to maintain peace in the settlements of the united colonies, as well as enforce law and order. Like every police force, UC Security is allowed to arrest or if necessary fight suspects of a crime. In most cases, UC Security can be seen on patrol, guarding an important place or working on a checkpoint.
UC Security is usually equipped with a uniform that looks like a light body armor and a helmet with face protection. Both bears the lettering UC SEC. The helmet seems to be mandatory while being on patrol, but optional while being at a desk or checkpoint. Patrol officers normally have Grendels with them as standard, but also have access to nonlethal Equinox rifles. The officers are also equipped with scanners and have access to a huge database with information about almost every citizen and current bounties.
The reputation of the organization can vary greatly depending on who you ask. While there is very little corruption and violence within UC Security, the high bureaucratic effort, especially in customs, is viewed quite critically by some business people. The Government also seems to have great trust in its police and has a representative of it in the Cabinet.
UC Security is not doing all security tasks on their own. The Military, the UC Vanguard and UC SysDef are working closely together with the security. When necessary, UC Security is allowed to hire civilians as assistance for minor offenses. There also is at least one security robot guarding the war memorial. However, UC Security is known for not liking when people from out of the government interfere in their work. Especially the Trackers Alliance or other bounty hunters, as well as private security or vigilantes.
