"I do not understand why you have an attachment to all of these objects." ― Vasco to the player character.[1]
Vasco is a Lunar Robotics Model A robot owned by Constellation.[2]
Background[]
A utilitarian, heavy industrial machine designed by Lunar Robotics, Vasco is well suited for the rigors of space travel.[3][4] Constellation took the early model and refurbished it to meet the requirements of their mission. Vasco wears the white and red livery of Constellation and has many years in the field, which has worn down his paint and dented a few panels.[3]
Vasco was discovered in an Akila City junkyard by Sir Malcolm Livingstone, and was brought along to New Atlantis when Livingstone joined Constellation. Vasco has been operating for 43 years.
Vasco's design is based on a standard, “Type A” bi-pedal chassis. He is capable of traversing rough terrain with all the survival gear and payload capacity needed for extended overland journeys. Vasco does have defensive capabilities, but his primary role is peaceful.
"Constellation members are like a family to Vasco, and he does his best to bond with them and help in any way possible."

Developer Notes[]
- Vasco's name is a reference to Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama.[2] That fact is mentioned by Vasco himself, in one of his voice lines. There's also a few ship cargo modules, present in the game, named after the explorer, such as the “da Gama 1000”, “da Gama 1010” and “da Gama 1020”.
- In the cinematic trailer for Starfield, Vasco is admonished via a crew member's scrawl for not procuring a batch of Tranquilitea. This is a reference to Tranquility Base.[2]
- Similar to his counterpart Codsworth in Fallout 4, another Bethesda game, Vasco knows over 1000 names and nicks he can directly address you with should you choose one of these for your character.
